My senior year of high school, I won a journalism award in a competition sponsored by Focus: Hope and got to have lunch with Emery King, which was also very cool.

In my late-30s I started self describing as "increasingly middle aged," but I just realized that, statistically speaking, with each passing year I am now decreasingly middle aged.

I don't want future generations to live in a dystopian hell scape, BUT I DON'T WANT TO LIVE IN A DYSTOPIAN HELLSCAPE EITHER!

I've always been bothered by the framing of "making the world better for future generations." That lets us off the hook! Let's make the world better now! Then it will also be better for future generations!
