I'm sure it's fine that basically every public figure peacefully speaking out about Palestine is getting hit with terrorism charges.

The left doesn't need any more symbolic action. We need to drive real, material changes. It needs to be messy and imperfect and public. It needs to be within arm's reach of everyday people instead of an abstract concept.

This doesn't mean it's not worth doing but rather that we contextualize growing tomatoes as less an act of resistance but rather an act of survival. Resistance looks like planting perennials that will feed future generations, selective breeding for future climates, and supporting climate refugees.

I think what people really need to understand as growing fears of trade wars causing food shortages increase, is that growing produce is good but that isn't a community solution. It's hard to wrap your head around the scale to grow meaningful calories for a neighborhood, let alone a community.
