Mint is a popular and good choice, the vanilla (heh) version is based on Ubuntu which itself used to be the default answer to "Hey where do I start with Linux?".

That said the most popular flavors of penguin, like ubuntu, arch, pop os, mint, etc., are going to serve most people about equally well. And anything based on Debian or Arch is gonna have a million and one tutorials on how to do things.

What Belladonna said, but it can also help to do some pre-emptive research into which distro will best serve you. What resources do you have available, what are you gonna be doing on it, how much tinkering are you willing to do, how comfy are you with the terminal, which GUI do you prefer, etc.
