a silver surfer story by... perez and fucking stan lee??? with art by leonardi??? thats a fucking combo
a two-gun-kid story by karl kessel. he probably shouldnt use another k in the middle like that. but i do appreciate some of his stories.
and a wolverine/x-men story by defalco, hes fine

probably not gonna read it today but i think this is the last marvel issue of the 90s im gonna read (this year)

we got a spider-man story by waid, a writer pretty much at his peak in the 90s

i looked up willie lumpkin and his stats are insane for an old guy
if i were a powerscaler, i could probably make an argument for him being able to solo these guys since his stats are just better than all of theirs

so this story of willie mourning may was fine, not much, but fine
but i have to wonder, what the fuck did everyone in-universe even think when may came back
does willie even know shes alive and that he was mourning a paid actor

now thats a venom face

the art can be jank at times, really hit or miss
but i absolutely adore the coloring, this is the exact way i wanna be able to color sometime

love this goober

the purple and blue highlights look amazing on venom, i wish artists did that more on him
and i appreciate the animated series eye-slit things that makes it look like he has pupils
and the weird fangs rule too
really unique venom look for this short story

this one was a silent story where black cat steals a bunch of toys from a warehouse to give to needy kids
that alone would be fine but there was just a weird part in the middle where 3 guys break in after her only to get caught immediately when i feel like didnt really need that
overall forgettable

i really do love moments like this though

ah its doing the old comic thing of having a supervillain for the sake of having a supervillain despite the personal elements it was JUST focusing on being 1000x more engaging

but fr tho this genuinely does hit (even if i dont like him thinking hes the real peter parker, i forgot about that part)

i really like ben reilly because (if we count stuff peter did pre-cloning since ben still remembers it as if he did it), he had to craft 2 different personas to live by as he had to give everything up. theres some major potential there that wasnt really given enough time to properly be explored.

so im a firm believe of marvels sliding timescale being 4 years in real time being 1 year in marvel time
and if we say marvel only happens on leap years, there were actually 5 leap years between bens first "death" in the mid-70s and this 1995 xmas special
