They certainly do, but also they can only do so much, especially since much of the visa and other documentation is via the employer. Every is also being cagey about what they say out loud.

I feel like things with major leaguers will be watched and taken care of, but the worry, as the players say, is with the young minor leaguers. MLB and Rob Manfred has largely seen these players as replaceable and an inconvenience.

Next 12 months. Garcia has one year, Marsh has two. I could see that being good enough, but also possibly forcing a midseason move. I could see guys like Nori and Aroon being very available. You then go cheap in CF and I think you build a cheaper platoon in the one you don’t spend on.

FA or extension? Or either? Assuming Crawford is fine and Miller gets healthy and on track, I think they will spend a large amount of money and/or trade capital on a corner outfielder. Maybe the Duran extension is like right at $100M. The CBA could change this all.

5/135 is a bargain when Dylan Cease gets 7/175. This is functionally 6/146 for Luzardo, but as I said all offseason they would wait until spring so this starts next year and doesn't spike the tax number this year.

I truly do not care what the money is. Luzardo is really really good and he was going to get PAID regardless. This is 6 years, you have 5 years of control on Sanchez, there is 5 on Schwarber and Nola, 6 on Harper, and many on Turner. This is the core and I suspect in a year Duran might get his $ too

My grandfather had a very good job, but even my grandmother who was nominally a stay at home parent in the 60s taught piano and voice lessons, did random accompaniment work, and played in churches. We aren't even going to touch my mom's side.

I haven't seen every team play, but it is so obvious how much all of them really care and bond together over everyone on the team wanting to be there and wear the uniform. He wants to wear the uniform and represent that country, that makes him part of it. It feels so simple.

Based on qualifiers and past events the following countries have had a team and aren't in this year's event: Spain, Germany, France, South Africa, Pakistan, Argentina, New Zealand, and China. It feels like we could make this happen.

When they do the WBC again they should have a group in Europe somewhere so that we fill the game gap between the Tokyo Dome games and the east coast games. I don't care (actually would welcome) expanding the whole thing so you can get the teams needed to support that.

2020 Phillies economy

Based on spin rates and pitch movement, Alex McFarlane is throwing a 4-seamer, sinker, slider, sweeper, and splitter/changeup. The last three are labeled sliders and there is no split on the fastballs. He doesn't quite look ready and they don't have a spot, but he doesn't feel far off.

I don’t think any team in baseball has done a better job having elite level pitching without prioritizing min/max fastballs than the Phillies. No team in baseball has also kept their pitchers healthier. They seem to know this pitching thing.
