They made some really good trades when the A's were being dumb, and they have done some good pitching development. However, their pitching core all blew out but Fried, who walked. Acuña has not been healthy enough to be that transcendent star to patch over ownership not spending.

My opinion on the Braves is that they completely squandered their dynasty window with poor financial management. They signed everyone to extensions, wiping out cheap CBT years, and then hid at lower cash spend behind those higher tax numbers, and never spent to build depth.

I would argue we are probably already there with the AI companies and other major corporations. American's being tied to the stock market for retirement in the same way they are tied to employment for insurance, means they are captive to it being unlimited money for those in power.

I don't think they have said anything specific, but it looks fastball heavy with a couple secondary pitches thrown in. That sort of is a normal distribution for early in spring training for most pitchers unless they have a specific thing they are trying.

I thought the Phillies picking up Yoniel Curet was very interesting, but he has looked disastrous early this spring. A little more velocity today, but cannot throw strikes which is a continued problem.

Ruben Amaro out here advocating small ball sac bunting in Spring Training. I get you want Crawford to work on bunting, but also he needs to work on actually hitting because it is Spring Training with emphasis on that second word.

I don't know all the Tommy John rehab statuses, but I would expect ~10 guys between old injuries and new injuries to start on the 60 day. So all told that is probably 15-20 opt outs and cuts that need to happen before opening day, and that doesn't count future signings.

Phillies released LHP Danny Wilkinson, which kicks off the season of cuts due to the shrunken minor leagues. I currently have the Phillies at 166 minor leaguers, the limit is 165. However, all 40 man players don't count until option and they will bring over most DSL players.
