It’s important to protect children online, but tech firms and legislators must make sure that they don’t lock children out of material they have a right to access – and that the line between “appropriate” and “inappropriate” isn’t discriminatory.

Not to mention, what of ensuring the safety and protection of the data we're all being asked to hand over to these companies for age-verification?

Any guarantees that they won't be handed over to data mining firms without knowledge and/or permission etc?

I appreciate the sentiment of this but I'm getting real tired of seeing tech being seen as the only solution for social issues such as this. There are no simple fixes.

Equally, the vagueness about exactly how, who or what is going to classify what is, or isn't 'harmful' is a tad bit concerning.
