Whether we’re defeating the HIV/AIDS epidemic or the first to provide humanitarian aid in the wake of a deadly natural disaster, U.S. foreign assistance stabilizes societies, improves trade economies, prevents disease outbreaks, and ultimately makes the U.S. and the world stronger and safer.

Yesterday, the U.S. declared #genocide in Sudan. While I welcome this, it comes far too late to save the more than 150K people who have already been killed. U.S. sanctions cannot come at the expense of those suffering - we must act now to save more lives.

We failed Sudan in 2004 — we cannot let history repeat itself We cannot afford to delay action any longer — lives are on the line.

A gang attack on a Haitian hospital reopening kills 2 reporters and a police officer Street gangs forced the General Hospital in Port-au-Prince to close earlier this year. As journalists gathered to cover its reopening, suspected gang members opened fire.

Regardless of the changes and challenges 2025 will bring, I know we will overcome them — because we believe health is a human right, that everyone deserves hope, and that together we can build a world where everyone can access the health care they deserve.
