Sometimes I’m like “I’m not that gay” but then other time I’m literally crying because I’m so happy Demi Moore is nominated for Best Actress for The Substance.

As we move from an authoritarian light administration into a full authoritarian administration, we cannot afford to look the other way or to dismiss the implications of this move by the government. We must hold every lawmaker who voted for this accountable. Hopefully it's not too late.

Authoritarian governments always target the sources of information. In Nazi Germany it was book burnings.
Here it's starting with banning access to a key source of information for millions of Americans.

It was that there was this vast amount of data that the US gov wanted, and could not get access to. They regularly buy our data from American companies. The US Government wants access to that data and they wanted to make sure US billionaires hold monopolies on all the big social media platforms.

This is not about the safety of our data. Our data is bought, sold, breached, and stolen all the time. Our data is not safe ANYWHERE. Not on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, or TikTok. If the concern was about the data, they would have targeted the problem—not singled out a specific app.

This dangerous, authoritarian action, was supported by members of both parties in Congress, signed by a democratic president, and upheld by all 9 justices. It has never been clearer that the divides of our country are not Left/Right, but actually are between the powerful seizing more power.

This is how authoritarian governments run. And, coincidentally, this is the kind of behavior that the Chinese government regularly engages in which the US government has pointed to for many years as proof of their evil and human rights violations.

All Americans should be terrified of the fact that our government, based on no evidence beyond innuendo and anti-China propaganda was able to remove access for MILLIONS of Americans to a source of community, art, and, yes, news and information. They shut down income sources for many of us.

When President Trump starts banning apps, websites, news outlets, and books, we can remember that Joe Biden set this precedent and all nine members of the Supreme Court let him do it. We have been warning about authoritarianism coming to the United States for years—it’s here.
