The US critically needs to develop policies to combat next-gen threats like these. We need more research and more advocacy going towards the rise of súpertangles.

That&/ the problem with the gradual backslide. I think the best thing is to give them “goalposts” almost. You say, “when XYZ happens, that’s a sign of things going bad”. They’ll say it’ll never happen, but when it inevitably does, it almost serves as a reality check.
