MS NOW reaches more homes than CNN.

Twitter is now mostly bots botting each other.

Honestly, the vibe shift from the first 24 hours of Shock and Awe is surreal. Complete decapitation of an entire state with Donald's aura of invincibility immediately shattered by the "uh... Now what?" afterwards.

People are expecting Paramount to sell it again in five years. I wouldn't be surprised if they sell it in three years because of that

I still say that social media, especially Twitter, is not real life.

The problem is that too many people in politics and journalism seem to think that it is.

It’s good to see Ivan Minigunzov finally made it to the screen, always hated that he was cut from the film- it’s what Fleming would have wanted

This bit in the From Russia With Love game made me laugh out loud. You've got a fairly grounded, low key fight based on the one in the movie, then the most video game looking fucker of all time slides into frame.

there's no central messaging

they are just this dumb

lmao even the KSA gets to learn where doing business with trump eventually leads

Shorter Trump news today:

"We're all idiots, should have seen this coming, didn't, and now we're panicking."

This is also pre-recorded too, right?

Honestly anyone who tells me that this whole deal with Iran is part of some elaborate 5D Chess master plan by Donald to stop the midterm elections and stay in power forever is pretty much going straight to the block list.

Jewish Americans and the Israeli electorate may have one of the greatest gaps between their stated politics of any diaspora and the ethno-polity of any groups on earth.

Reminder - DO NOT harass any animators, actors, writers, or employees at Paramount and Warner Bros.

Direct your anger to the shitty executives, shareholders, and the politicians who have the power to stop it. Not the little people who probably hate this as much as we do.

27.02.2026 17:56 β€” πŸ‘ 176    πŸ” 108    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 3

As other people have noted, the Paramount-WB merger isn't a done deal yet. It'll take months for it to pass regulators in the US and Europe, and can Paramount even afford it?

And companies that buy Warner don't tend to fair well.

28.02.2026 01:51 β€” πŸ‘ 30    πŸ” 14    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Another way to see this is that companies are now entering "cover your ass" mode so they don't get completely torn to pieces when Democrats inevitably regain control

28.02.2026 00:48 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 4    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Paramount, Oracle, the entire AI bubble...

Actually y'know what maybe we let him cook.

27.02.2026 23:36 β€” πŸ‘ 40    πŸ” 4    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

the thing about this is that they don’t even have to win in the end, they just need to stall it long enough to get a responsible AG in place to review it

27.02.2026 20:28 β€” πŸ‘ 145    πŸ” 13    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Note:
Warner won’t get Skydance’d until mid-late next year at earliest.
The interim period is when you load up on whatever Warner-related content & ensure you are able to acquire it in a way that ensure you won’t have to pay Warner a dime.
Physical media, erasure-proof downloading, the works.

27.02.2026 06:51 β€” πŸ‘ 12    πŸ” 6    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 1

This is 2025/2026 in a nutshell. The bad news is that it's happening, the good news is they're gonna fuck it up

27.02.2026 15:54 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 2    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

One of the great tragedies of this here website is that it just leads to consternation if you try and hold two complimentary but slightly competing positions at the same time.

Things can be both "bad" and "not actually the end of the world" at the same time.

27.02.2026 15:42 β€” πŸ‘ 73    πŸ” 20    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

And just off the top, $3Bln is going out the door to Netflix.
But yeah, people forget there’s existing Warner debt, the debt for buying Warner…and the debt from buying Paramount.
A big debt bomb is being built here, and this nepo baby will NEVER be able to pay it off.

27.02.2026 01:40 β€” πŸ‘ 21    πŸ” 5    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 1

And if Oracle blows up, there goes a huge chunk of David's money honey.
Larry's trying to diversify to try and lower the pain...which is why AT&T bought Warner and GUESS WHAT HAPPENED!

27.02.2026 05:28 β€” πŸ‘ 6    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

And with every failed marriage, WB takes a piece of those companies:

Seven Arts: Library assets.
Kinney National: Music labels and DC Comics.
Time: HBO and more library assets.
AOL: Its value. And TMZ.
AT&T: Online infrastructure. And Crunchyroll for a while.
Discovery: International sports media.

Thanks for the heads up. You doubt they'll be able to rush things?

We can simultaneously note that media consolidation is bad--esp under conglomerates controlled by allies of an authoritarian thug like Trump--while also noting that their goal of creating a state media that shifts the public in their direction is failing by its own merits

Take a breath

Take a break

relax

quit doomscrolling

These things take months, even years, to get across. Warner Bros. isn't going away tomorrow (same with Warner Archive)

May we suggest watching some Looney Tunes? They're still free to watch on Tubi!

the idea that you could magaify warner bros and have it be successful is wrong, but it’s extremely funny when you consider that the earliest they could do it would be, like, 2027-2028

I am assuming this is why Netflix backed out because they figured it was simpler to let Ellison bleed himself to death in the inevitable legal quagmire this merger will entail. Europe approval is likely going to be a tough hill to climb
