Love it, subtle but noticeable

The original is always there, this thing maybe tacky (not less than the original movie tbh, that has a truly dark side) but it's just for the Sphere at least, it's not trying to erase the original like many remasters and special editions do

Given that it's a format that can only work in that specific location and setup I don't see it that way, it's a performance, not a re-release, it's less harmful than many shoddy remasters and recuts

I feel there's space for both, Wicked is that something new (both musical and movie), it's not like there isn't new stuff based on the original, and it's not like people are going to go out of their way to watch the og movie, this is the most attention it got since the dark side of Oz

Agreed that's intentional, but I think it's a mistake because it's a bubble and they'll fail, probably there's going to be an opposite push after this where everyone will market how much traditional work was employed, like how it happened with cg and practical effects

the compositing/superimposing is all manual I think, they made background for the different scenes and then cut up actors and elements, generated out of frame parts and composed the final thing

I'm conflicted about this, people are acting like the whole thing is AI generated but it took the work of hundreds of people, they re-scored it with an orchestra, they re-did all the shots on a sphere-mapped environment. it's a PR mistake to hide a lot of human work behind the AI buzzword
