In case there was any doubt left in your mind about the UK government’s stance on immigration, it has aligned itself w/ the most hardline countries, incl. Denmark, Hungary & Italy, to dangerously water down ECHR.
Happy International #humanrightsday
www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...
Today is international #humanrightsday … so of course our PM announced curbing human rights!
But we won’t stand for it. We will fight till the bitter end for dignity, justice, freedom and liberation for all!
🧡
Curbing human rights won’t make anyone safer!
Hands off ECHR.
Seeking safety is a right.

Dealing with sickness is scary enough as it is, nobody should feel like there will be consequences for seeking care. This is the sad reality of so many of our patients, stuck in our broken immigration and asylum systems.

Excellent piece by @nesrinemalik.bsky.social about Shabana Mahmood, the new darling of the right and far-right, daughter of migrants spearheading the most cruel anti-migrant reforms.

Reform's plan for a benefit clampdown Sir, Regarding Reform's plan to ban foreigners from claiming benefits ("Farage visas would make it harder to settle in the UK", news, Sep 22; "Time's Up", leading article, Sep 23), in my small company for the past ten years we have employed, on a yearly average, 32 eastern European people, two of them in senior management positions. They all pay British taxes and have had little or no unexplained absences to date. Sick leave for them is extremely low. As far as I am aware, none of them is claiming benefits for dependants. These diligent people provide compassionate care for their clients, living with them for a few weeks at a time. During the pandemic they were responsible for ensuring zero transmission of the virus to people in their care. I feel utterly ashamed that many of them will be reading about Nigel Farage's plan on their various social media platforms this morning. Chrstina Sell Managing director, Arbour
Our politics and media have become viciously obsessed with immigration. Farage has made sure of it. And in that obsession, they’ve all lost sight of the people they target. Fellow human beings trying to live and belong somewhere.
Shame on everyone responsible for this daily inhumanity
(Letter,Times)
Cruel anti-migrant policies are bad for all of us.
We all know the saying, first they came for the communists, and I didn't speak out …
Our fight for migrant justice has never been more urgent.

The govt is announcing one cruel decision after the next.
Yesterday they chose to abolish one of the only safe routes.
We need more, not less, safe routes
(safe routes info: @freemovement.bsky.social)
This is ICE-style immigration enforcement in the UK, it is also very reminiscent of Windrush.
