This is my kid's school. She was transferred there after being ruthlessly bullied at our neighborhood school for being trans. This school is a lifeline for queer and neurodiverse kids who are at risk and we had no idea this was coming. Shame on you PPS.

“The official story just collapsed. Again. DHS shot two Venezuelan immigrants in a Portland parking lot — and then lied about it: trying to sell the country a story about “vicious gang members” who “weaponized” their car. In court, that story is unraveling, and what’s left looks a lot like a smear campaign designed to justify violence after the fact. Here’s what happened, in plain terms. On January 8 in Portland, a Border Patrol agent opened fire during what DHS described as a “targeted” stop. The two people shot were Yorlenys Zambrano-Contreras (hit in the chest) and Luis Niño-Moncada (hit in the arm). DHS immediately put out statements claiming the pair were tied to Tren de Aragua and that the driver tried to run officers over. But the government’s own paper trail doesn’t back up the headline version. Records obtained by The Guardian show a federal prosecutor later told a judge they were NOT arguing that Niño-Moncada is a gang member. Let that land: DHS pushed “gang” to the public, while DOJ walked it back in court. Meanwhile, an FBI affidavit suggests the prior “shooting” DHS cited to paint Zambrano-Contreras as dangerous was, according to her account, an incident where she was sexually assaulted and robbed — and later tried to retrieve her money and belongings. In other words, the government appears to have used a woman’s reported victimization as a prop to criminalize her. And then there’s the accountability void. None of the six Border Patrol agents involved recorded body-camera footage. Investigators initially said they couldn’t find video capturing the shooting itself. So the charging narrative leaned heavily on agents’ testimony — including claims about fear, danger, and a “weaponized” vehicle that even the agents didn’t uniformly agree on. Again and again, we see the same playbook: demonize first, disclose later; smear the target, shield the shooter; call it “safety,” then fight transparency.
