WHY are the Packers just shit-brown on brown?

I just had a realization that the reason my back hurts all this weekend is from taking an AC out of the window by myself and I just did it real hurriedly.

If he’s gonna do that then gimme some Brutalism, the absolute certainty of hard-angle concrete. None of this tacky-ass neoclassic bullshit.

I wonder if you could also connect this then to the ready-for-the-grave funny nihilism of some younger generations, a clear defiance.

Like personally, accepting i cannot hang like I used to, i like what i like, and I don’t have to keep up with some things if I don’t want to and it’s stupid to assume I should because I 40-something years old, come on.

Yeah this is more an offshoot idea but I do think an element of shitass conservative “ideology” is that they really think they’re at the peak of their lives in a very literal sense, which refracts (in the worst way) general beliefs about aging in general.

A more apt comparison might be LOGAN’S RUN but even then not quite.

There’s something there to examine about how in general nobody sees themselves as anything but vital and in their prime anymore, especially these types who just are not canny enough despite their lived experiences to recognize this is not the peak, but the downward slope.

The OFFICE SPACE “Why should I change, they’re the ones that suck” bit is honestly the root of most practical ideology for a reason. It’s right.

The relationship between UFO culture and theology is a. Web weld one that has sort of been swept aside a bit in a post-THE X-FILES consciousness. But I’m not surprised evangelicals would still love that shit.

But if you look at earlier 50s/60s stuff it’s a lot less set and more vague, with a lot in common to what others might describe as spiritual or religious experiences almost (granted that’s from lack of reference arguably, but still).

A lot of earlier stuff about UFOs and abduction experiences are linked to descriptions of spiritual experiences, the modern UFO narrative we know today was more solidified in the late 70s/80s from what I can vaguely-recall. There’s one specific UFO book that helped make that shift.

Look I love LOTR but…huh.

My controversial television opinion is they as much as I love Halloween, this show’s Thanksgiving and Christmas-themed episodes are better, because they’re more deranged.

Time for one of my favorite fall traditions, watching the BOB’S BURGERS Thanksgiving episodes over and over.

The show (which is a fine-ish 7/10 at its best) wants to be Game of Thrones but also more action-y, when the books and stories were meditations on the cynical Polish anti-hero.
