I would ask the chair in a one-on-one meeting about how upper admin at the uni is communicating about the govt's new policies. My uni is sending almost daily updates and providing specific contacts within the uni for ppl whose research is interrupted, ppl affected by the immigration policies, etc.

Just ask! Their response will say volumes about how the university administrators will protect faculty if this nightmare comes to fruition. I visited 11 different universities last year and you can always read between the lines, even if they don't say it outright!

Now it's back to work, where my primary sources of research funding are at best going to be determined by a World Wrestling Federation administrative reject and a nepo baby conspiracy theorist and at worst demolished entirely! Happy Wednesday!
