I agree with making it universal and also strongly oppose people like Jivani who shame children who need food. My children needed food and I could provide it. If I couldn’t, I would still want them fed.

When I volunteered with Roots of Empathy, the office had a basket of food and the children could take whatever they wanted whenever they wanted. The one thing I remember is that the children were casual - no shame, just curious about the food - tells a lot about the people who worked there.
