I’m sorry that happened. I’ve noticed that political games are being played too. For example, PM Carney is up in the polls and people are using his statement against him in hopes of declining his votes. This is how good governments get replaced with bad ones (PP) with the drip, drip of attacks.

I don’t normally make personal comments but this morning was a bit much.

First, was told I’m morally depraved and to get fu*ked and another account accused me of supporting the Iraq war (never did).

Rather than name and shame, I’m just hoping for better social skills and reading comprehension.

Of course I didn’t support the Iraq war. That’s not what I said.

Now the war is on and our friends are embattled. While we are not participating in the coalition, for reasons have expressed, let us be very clear that this government and all Canadians hope for a quick victory for the U.S.-led coalition with a minimum of casualties. We share the concerns of our American, British and Australian friends for their sons and daughters who are bravely fighting. We share concerns for the safety of Iragi civilians. We care about the outcome even if we are not participants in the war. This means that we should not say things that could give comfort to Saddam Hussein and this means that we should not do things that would create real difficulties for the coalition.

Neither is asking rhetorical questions when you know the answer - not having Canadians on the frontlines saves lives on both sides. We can’t stop this war - we do what we can.

I agree with John that it’s the important question. Not the only one but crucial because we aren’t sending our military to get killed and we aren’t opening our civilians to increased risk of to attacks by terrorists. I can’t think of anything more important than that.

Wish we were in ye olde days when leaders declared war and then led their troops in battle because today leaders declare war and then just sit in rooms observing deaths of brave women and men soldiers and innocent civilians.
