I do think that at some point, the economy will start spiraling hard enough to make him want to *try* to TACO, but we're not there yet.

I do think Americans' lack of ability to imagine how much worse things could get was a major contributor to Trump's win. Between general lack of interest in the world and lack of recent experience with catastrophe there's not a lot of basis for understanding what can go wrong.

Sometimes, when people say stupid things like this, I just want to be able to create an Earth Simulation wherein the ideas they’re spouting reign supreme, and plonk them down in it to see how they like it.

You can literally see this dynamic whipping him about minutes to minute, as he tries to declare victory (so the markets will like him) and postures about crushing Iran (so the hawks will like him). He doesn’t have some secret plan, he’ll just spin between the two forever BECAUSE HE HAS NO BRAIN.

A lot of very smart people are predicting a reversion to the mean in US/Iranian relations at the conclusion of this…..crisis I guess.

Trump can walk away from this “little excursion” as he now calls it, but I have a feeling that Iran isn’t going to let bygones be bygones for a few more decades.

If two parties were identical in every respect except one was going to send a tomahawk missile into a school full of little girls and the other wasn’t, that’s actually still a substantive difference and you should vote for the better one

The problem is, how does he leave?? Does Israel just go home, let Iran rebuild? Does Iran stop striking US bases, Gulf states, and Israel? Does Hormuz magically reopen?

The TACO idiocy is built around this notion that Trump is the only actor with real agency, but that’s true ONLY of US tariffs

If he’d really like to remove some evil from our lives, he can start with himself.

Go for it, Donny. Be the first President in history to demand to be impeached and removed for his crimes. And then go turn yourself in to any relevant authorities who aren’t on your payroll.

My personal feelings here, but I don’t think assuming dual income is, on the whole, ideal for partnered people either.

Single income households can be Good, Actually, for couples and families, and I wish more people had an actual choice in the matter.

Those people need to learn an appreciation for the beauty of clouds or something.
