We adhere to all FERPA and COPPA legislation, and in the incredibly unlikely event that we close up shop, we would carefully handle the deletion or transfer of your data with great care.

You can and should, and love that you would. And you can take confidence in the fact that if we used a low confidence provider we would lose our security certifications like SOC2, and our customer trustβ€” so we take the evaluation of every provider and partner very seriously.

That’s correctβ€” they’re a subprocessor of sensitive data for our company, and we’ve run them through an extensive analysis to ensure they adhere to the exact same protocols we follow to remove data security risk from engaging with them.

OpenAI does not encode or train on any of the data that is passed through their APIs, however if a teacher or student were to use their ChatGPT productβ€” which is different than an app using the api, that risk is real. ChatGPT does leverage data for training, SchoolAI’s product doesn’t have that risk

It’s a nuanced question for a couple reasons. The models OpenAI provides *inference* the data that a teacher or student might use, but that does not inherently mean that the model will remember or encode that information into the model. A model has to be trained on data for that to be a risk.

We are SOC2 Type 1 certified, and currently in the Type 2 controls waiting period. This certification also ensures we adhere to every leading data privacy and security control to keep our customers data safe.

The most critical aspect is that it’s handled with care.

We encrypt our data in transit and at rest. This ensures your data is always handled and stored securely.

We leverage AI APIs that never encode your data into their pre-training or post-training, and we’ll never compromise on that policy.

Hi Kelly! I lead the engineering, product, and design teams at SchoolAI.

Thanks for the question, and we appreciate how serious you take data stewardship. We follow industry leading best practices to handle data. Most software providers use cloud compute and database services like Amazon. 1/2
