i found robert black a really compelling character, and the way moore weaves the lovecraft mythos with real life is really enjoyable. i prefer promethea's more positive version of a dream apocalypse, but the horror depicted here has a value of its own.

an above average entry in the DS house series, with something of a jazzier influence around this time i think. favourite tracks - "Strom", "BEFORE IT ENDS", "Come Here Tonight"
The Last Waltz
my ability to appreciate this is once again hampered by the fact that i've never actively listened to the musical act that is the focus, but even from this emotional distance you can tell this must've been a hell of a thing to witness live. they don't make 'em like they used to.

when i was a kid i didn't understand how this worked and i thought every CD that was manufactured had to have a monster put onto it. like they'd go up to ringo starr or whatever and ask him what monster he wants and he'd say "ouhh this DEfinitely has a "Battle Rocks" quality to it! peace and love.!"

10.10.2025 12:58 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0SHOCK POLL: NIGEL FARAGE WILL BE PM TOMORROW IN an amazing poll conducted by The Pointless Polling Company, it was revealed that voters' intentions may well change over the next three and a half years and at present it's 100 percent impossible to guess what the next government might look like. However, 99 percent of journalists agree that it would be much more fun if we had an election tomorrow and everybody resigned and everything was chaos and Farage had a go at being PM, just for the hell of it, because it was so much fun when Brexit happened and then the government kept falling every five minutes and we could write endless pieces about (cont. p94)
Private Eye offers up an excellently scornful commentary on the relentless polling. Itโs become ridiculous and has oversimplified our politics to dangerous levels of stupid and irresponsible.

SIMON: What? SHAPIRO: ...Or saying... SIMON: You imagine that? SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over. SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level. SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this. SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.
