Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

They're demonizing SNAP and other recipients of federal aid on right wing media.

Of 21 million federal aid beneficiaries, ~70% work full-time and 39% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. Critics need to ask Amazon and Walmart why they won't pay enough for their employees to survive w/o food stamps.

I can't tell you how much it hurts my brain to hear people in their seventies go rabid over the idea of government paid healthcare and become homicidal at the thought of a universal basic income while they enjoy their government paid healthcare and collect their universal basic income.
