It relies on the media to post things that classify as fascist. Not many articles this past week have been matching the 14 characteristics of fascism.

Palantir and ICE employees are enabling a fascist government. So I'm releasing a tool (inspired by 5calls.org) that lets you email a random employee from each company—urging them to rethink their job. Just click “Generate Email” and hit send.

The Fascism Threat just rose to Critical (83%).

On June 12th, the system flagged 61 articles that mentioned the arrest of Senator Alex Padilla and the use of the national guard in Los Angeles. This incident pushed the number of flagged articles up by 3%.

The way the current calculation works - it counts the amount of articles classified each day and it takes the average of the 3 highest days and that determines the threat.

The system depends on media outlets reporting - which isn't a perfect system, but the best we can do for now : )

The Fascism Threat just rose to Critical (80%).

The system flagged 60 articles on the 18th—most tied to ongoing deportations—which pushed the needle up about 3%.

There are no articles about him, he's a political commentator which wouldn't show up on the site. The site only classifies articles that mention direct actions / impacts that the current administration is doing. And people closely tied in with them

Few changes just went out -

- Added major event lines to the chart
- Changed Default view to show this year instead of monthly
- Changed threat labels of 'Minimum' and 'Low to 'Limited' and 'Mild'

Threat is still the same for all time - the rolling month window is why it went down. Sorry for the confusion!

Will also feature articles that don’t have a high enough confidence score for the 14 step main view (>75% confidence score) and I this removes that. So if you see more articles here, that’s why.

News View! You can now browse all the articles in a news feed. Sort by topic, person, news source, etc.
Hopefully will make it easier to check what’s new and stay up to date.

all of these are fundamentally flawed since if we truly get to 100% fascism threat theoretically the website shouldn't exist anymore since in a 100% fascist state they would have taken it down. Hope that helps!

The new calculation for threat is based on peaks rather than averages and arbitrary calculations. Threat seems to be best defined as the avg of the 3 highest peaks in that timeframe. Which modeled out with the data makes sense to me. Happy to take feedback here - I know its not perfect.

yes! few reasons, mainly the progress bar felt flawed, does progress keep moving up? does it decay? how long until it should decay? eventually it would just get to 100% with the way I'm using articles as the metric. It was also too opaque, you couldn't see change over time, and I want transparency
