On Thursday night he made a very brief and not very contrite statement of regret for losing his temper. But still said he thought he was right. Nowhere near good enough.

Should David Marr be sacked? He now has the credibility of other ABC journalists. This upsets me as I am a massive fan of his work on Patrick White.

Friends, there is NOT a magic formula by which 3.5% of the population protesting automatically topples a regime.

That's a descriptive heuristic coined 12 years ago about several movements. Discussion of it now gets way oversimplified. The tactics of both rulers and movements continue to evolve.

It's not 3.5% protesting. It's 3.5% getting out on the streets and staying there until the regime collapses. These are 2 different things
