New lunchtime knit, same pattern. ๐งถ
Finished the last one so quickly and it was so fun, so this one's going to be a Christmas gift knit!
Pattern: Alpine Bloom by Caitlin Hunter
Yarn: Lana's Light from @berrocoyarn.bsky.social + mystery blue from my stash.
Right skeins of yarn and some grey buttons on a wooden table. In the background are some small pumpkins. The yarn is white and brown from Kensington Farms, Green fingering from All Points North, and Natural Grey from New Wave Fibres.
Went to Knit City Vancouver and bought a restrained amount of yarn ๐งถ
29.09.2025 05:49 โ ๐ 35 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0A fall themed collage made up of images from Pinterest. Most prominently there's some pictures of knit sweaters, soup, an embroidered beetle, pumpkins, and some illustrations depicting characters dressed warm and cozy. All credit for each individual image goes to the original artists / photographers. I did my best to ensure all images are real and not generated in any way.
A mood board for the fall ๐
Instead of big goals for the fall I've been focusing on letting go of projects that I'm unhappy with, finishing ones I've had on the back burner, and making lots of soup ๐ป
So beautiful!! I love the twisted rib ๐

A mathematical mess...
This spring I self drafted a sweater without having knit anything like it before, + while playing yarn chicken. ๐งถ๐
I will be frogging this monstrosity and giving the motif a second chance after I learn some more about these types of sweaters.

An update on my lunch break knitting project, the Alpine Bloom Hat by Caitlin Hunter.
Tried it on and it fits snugly so I'm now working on the ribbing. I'm doing a two toned fisherman's rib for some extra squish.

I did a big mordant day last year when I acquired a large amount of yarn blanks so it's been a while, but if I remember correctly I used alum and followed the instructions from Maiwa's Natural Dyes: naturaldyes.ca/instructions
15.09.2025 19:13 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Holding two small piles or orange yarn in hand. In the background is grass and brick.
Holding two fluffy mohair skeins in yellow and red over two containers of yarn dye with yarn inside, also on yellow and a very very dark red. The background is black.
Did some yarn dying this weekend, some little orange bits for my mom who's knitting tiny pumpkins, and trying to color match some bits for an upcoming sweater project. ๐งถ
I used marigolds from my garden for the yellow and madder root power for the red. ๐ผ

Image of me wearing my freshly knit cardigan, a beige T-shirt, jeans, and holding my camera. The cardigan is light grey with dark grey sleeves and tulips in green and pink. Super fun knitting pattern by Harvey road knits The pattern was well written and easy to follow. I made two changes, one was the motif which I adjusted to be a closer match to my Tulip socks while keeping the same stitch count as the original, and the other was yarn size which I reduced to get a lighter, flowy fabric so I can wear it in warmer weather.
Cropped photo of my hand knit cardigan laying on the ground. The cardigan is light grey on top and dark grey on the bottom with a tulip motif in green and pink.

Honestly, it was a few videos on holding your yarn and catching the floats that gave me the confidence to try, if you can figure out those two things the rest comes later ๐งถ
I also recommend practice swatches and starting with a pattern where you're proficient in the other techniques.
You got this!

More sock progress! Why does color work feel so much faster than single color knitting? It really shouldn't.
