Dang, I've mainly dealt with internal cards, so I'm not sure how their external USB cards compare to other USB cards.

Think the common recommendation for an internal card was the AVerMedia GC573 if you can find one. Avoid the newer one (GC575), IIRC it's literally a USB card that they slapped a PCIe connector onto; doesn't utilize the bandwidth and worse driver support than the USB version.
