Violent stovepipe-shaped tornado under a sculpted updraft with highly visible RFD cut hits seceral farms near the community of Alpena, South Dakota on June 18, 2014. Juston Drake and I were looking north at this incredible sight. #SDwx

Nor'easter (bombcyclone) yesterday broke records for some locations: Providence, Rhode Island (Warwick) measured 37.9 inches of snow accumulation, high winds & heavy snow caused widespread white-out conditions. Was in the teeth of it during the storms peak!

Coldcore tornado near Dieterich, Illinois over soybean and corn fields on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2006.
This was near our chase 2 days ago on February 19, 2026. Also ran into legendary storm chaser Gene Moore on that day! ILwx

Juston Drake and I had a nice late winter chase across Eastern Illinois & Western Indiana yesterday, February 19, 2026. We documented 2 tornadic supercells, several wall clouds, and lots of small hail. Never confirmed a tornado. Alternator went out, replacing today

If the average person can go to jail or be sued into poverty for an auto accident, ANY transportation company owning self-driving vehicles should get same treatment. No driver, then the company OWNER(S) must be held accountable to the same level as an individual driver. FAFO

I've documented significantly more extreme snow events, but I'm still
grateful to have been able to document this local historic event in my hometown. Understand this was nothing on the scale of the Great Blizzard of '78 with respect to overall storm intensity. #OHwx

NEW RECORD MAXIMUM SNOWFALL FOR DAYTON, OHIO:
12.4 inches of snow accumulation at the Dayton International Airport. This overtakes the official 12.2 inches measured from the infamous Blizzard of 1978, also known as the Midwest Super Bomb.

Looking more and more likely Dayton, Ohio might break that snowfall record from the Blizzard of '78, while the winds and low pressure set the 1978 BOMB in a league of its own. #OHwx

The 'Big Snow of 1880' is still the biggest Seattle has ever seen - MyNorthwest.com More than 100 years ago, Seattle experienced another unusual stint of weather: days of relentless snow that crushed wood buildings.

Pretty amazing series of storms.

NORAD's Santa Tracker began with a typo and a good sport It all started in 1955 with a misprint in a Colorado newspaper and a call to Col. Harry Shoup's secret military hotline. Shoup played along with the tiny voice who called, and a tradition was born.
