My wrestling hot take is that 2023 was one of the best years ever in pro wrestling.

2024 was my return to reading…

I am following two Bryan Alvarez…

I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently.

Hence the posts.

I’d love to know what you make of it.

I think it’s that we often exhibit behaviours that are so different to the ones that bind humans together.

The reassurance of eye-contact, agreeableness, following the crowd and physical touch.

The things that bound homosapians together and drove effective communication and therefore evolution.

By the same cultural norms that make mental health conversations so difficult or male vulnerability feel so naked.

But there’s something about the Autistic experience that feels so ‘wrong’ to me *by societal norms*.

But what’s also (if that were not already enough) impossible about all this is that this kind of intense specificity about the Autistic experience of navigating social norms and your own self expression is that I’m trained to know it’ll be judged as self-obsessive or childish or precious!

It’s a constant tight-rope walk where you must try to unmask somewhat otherwise suffer autistic burnout whilst not unmasking too much too quickly therefore bringing the social policing pressures that come with that.

Advice for talking to an Autistic person is always:

Say what you mean and mean what you say.

As an Autistic person this is your instinct. Always.

But you’re trained out of it because you tend to feel like you’ve insulted somebody’s mother every time you answer truthfully.
