My view is that any student who wants to live in the dorms should be able to do that, and they don't have dorm capacity for that. I don't think they are even making housing offers to new transfer undergrads (that's about 1k per year).

Last night while Shorewood Hills was going insane, Madison's Police Chief presented to Common Council. Most crimes are down. Other takeaway is that there is a speeding hotline! (608) 266-4822 - If you call with driver info city sends a nasty letter to speeder, but even without info they keep stats.

They are getting so pedantic about the agenda that at first Bassuner wouldn't let Falk announce that the village won a safe streets grant during announcements from committees.

Ullsvik getting on Imes' case about how the 2 other Trustees who were invited to a meeting with a developer didn't end up going. The board didn't want Imes meeting with developers alone.

5 Trustees vote to require Trustees to sign a pledge to follow the rules, Ullsvik abstains, Lotfi says she can't vote for anything "without her attorney". BTW, if you watch the video later, things started getting "interesting" at about 4hrs, 15 minutes.

Lotfi apparently asked staff why they called the police on her. They replied that it was warranted, but Lotfi says it was a "setup."

Lederer moves to require all Trustee sign a pledge to follow legal restrictions on Trustee actions by March 17. Barford says that Lotfi is the most "out there" Trustee and does important things, but plays fast and loose with the rules. She says they aren't asking her to resign.

Lotfi says that the difference between her and the board is that she fact checks. She then complains that the village administrator can't do his job. "This shit is coming to an end." The board is a little shocked by Lotfi's reaction. She's talking more.

The Board is totally letting Lotfi off easy. They are focussing on her version of events, that she just tried to direct staff, rather than the police report's version - that she harrased staff. And yet she is still attacking the board. Lotfi is complaining about Lederer reading the quote.

Lederer says that individual Trustees can't be directing staff, it is unworkable. He reads a quote from Lotfi a while ago and says this represents a basic misunderstanding: "When there is a disagreement between the trustee and the administrator the trustee prevails."

Bassuner and Barford are using her own account of what happened, rather than the police report, where she called a village contractor and demanded records. Lotfi is pissed, says that Bassuner isn't able to say what she did. She is claiming she didn't try to direct staff.

Lotfi says her internet isn't working, she is calling on the phone. Now they are going to talk about the item concerning her behavior. She was asked in a letter from Bassuner & Barford to that she has no authority to tell staff what to do beyond votes on Board.

Barford complains about Imes to not put forward committee assignments, despite this being his job in ordinance. Barford says that the board has said they don't want him doing that. Lederer wants the board to sign the letter calling for Imes to resign.

Bassuner and Barford again asking Imes to resign. Bassuner references a PIP, which I guess they mean the January meeting when they complained about him. Barford is complaining about Imes sending messages to some villagers and not others.

Board 3 yes, 3 no, and 1 maybe on the dog. It was just for discussion, but they aren't convinced that the village needs a dog.

Ullsvik skeptical that there is a need - fewer than 10 missing persons and narcotic cases. They have addressed retention in other ways. This came from an ad hoc committee that also recommended a drove (implemented). Barford was on ad hoc committee, says she doesn't think village might not need this.

Police chief: there is interest in K9 unit to help with retention,help with missing persons. Most funding would be through fundraising, and free vet care has already been secured for the life of the animal. This item is just for discussion, and chief is just asking to further pursue the possibility.

They are going to punt the solar energy project to a future meeting, because Imes says he didn't quite have correct rate information in the packet. Lotfi lost internet connection, but it's her item to move meeting time to 6pm. They unanimously approve, so regular trustee meetings will be 6pm now.
