Never mind - Shorewood Hills cancels the ZBA meeting that was supposed to be tonight. Seems pretty on-brand with the chaos that is the village honestly....

In other news, I won $300 in Vegas, so maybe that's a good sign and things will go just fine!

This controversy has essentially single-handedly prevented the village from appointing a full ZBA-there are 3 vacancies right now.

The ?final? battle between Shorewood Hills and someone trying to build a single family is tonight - Village granted building permit, villagers claim it violates zoning. I'll be in the air during the meeting, but you can catch it live on Facebook! Appeal seems totally made up, but prob won't matter.

Isn't the difference that the initial announcement was just that it was in Biden's proposed budget for 2025? But this funding has now been passed by congress, and so has been funded.

A Madison newspaper should be on this. Did North-South BRT get funding?

Just to clarify - only A and B (some historic importance) designations are reviewed by Plan Commission. Those demolitions that Landmarks Com. considers to have no historic significance (C) are approved by staff.

Plan Commission will consider the demolition under current rules, regardless of an attempt to landmark it. Landmarks determined that the building is the highest level of "A", meaning that it has historic significance - these are the only demolitions reviewed by PC.

I was relieved that Bangstad didn't compare his E Wash tap room to a Parisian cafe this time - so I at least I find that to be an improvement over last year's application!

PC ultimately decided to place the request on file without prejudice, meaning that Minocqua Brewing could come back to PC again with a new request for amplified sound. One neighbor said that they already were using amps for some bands, but didn't call police out of respect for musician(s).

Most of the debate tonight was about whether the request should be placed on file with or without prejudice. Staff said that placing on file with prejudice prevents same app from coming back before 1yr-but changed app could come back either way

Staff recommended placing on file without prejudice arguing, much like last year, that the patio is too close to the adjacent homes for amps (closer than other patios with amp sound). The owner (Kirk Bangstad) and neighbors have been feuding since he opened. Alder and SASY NA were against.

PC again denied Minocqua Brewing Company(2927 E Wash) attempt to get amplified sound in their outdoor patio (adjacent to residential). Owner again argued F-35s make area unlivable so music and badger games improve it. He then immediately left the meeting before any questions

They also recommended approval a new CSM for the mixed-use and residential buildings along at 2010-2030 Pennsylvania. The new building will be a permitted use under the zoning, so most approvals happening at Urban Design Commission - only pool will come to future PC meeting.

McCahill only commissioner voting against the new approval for alterations. He was concerned that the stand-alone parking structure not normally allowed in a TOD had many mitigations to gain approval-now one major mitigation is being dropped

I missed Madison Plan Commission tonight, but here is a recap. They approved alteration by UW Health to drop their planned solar panels from a previously approved parking structure (left) in a TOD at their new 750 University Row Clinic, say fed subsidy no longer available.

My view is that any student who wants to live in the dorms should be able to do that, and they don't have dorm capacity for that. I don't think they are even making housing offers to new transfer undergrads (that's about 1k per year).

The city also awarded $6.3M, half city half fed., to a number of owner-occupied affordable housing projects, including on banked city lots

Last night while Shorewood Hills was going insane, Madison's Police Chief presented to Common Council. Most crimes are down. Other takeaway is that there is a speeding hotline! (608) 266-4822 - If you call with driver info city sends a nasty letter to speeder, but even without info they keep stats.

They are getting so pedantic about the agenda that at first Bassuner wouldn't let Falk announce that the village won a safe streets grant during announcements from committees.
