I'm not even on the ace spectrum but aside from ME wanting to bang my characters I don't usually codify any specific sexuality for them even with a Pathfinder backstory attached. The exception is 2 of my deities are an item, and their adherents pair up for missions that often turn into relationships

I think it has a light source from above, you can see the shadows from it if you look at the folds, and the light behind could either be an overexposed bright reflection/outside light source. I think my brain is also using the red in the background as a color anchor 🤔

I think for me, it helped that I immediately realized the lighting was yellow and warm, so it was unlikely to be white and gold with such a yellowing filter on it.

It really depends and should probably be a question for the individual commissioner. I've commissioned pieces where I was imagining a picture where a character's face or body was mostly or entirely blocked and the artist struggled until I clarified the lack of visibility was a feature.
