Yeah, there was a significant price drop in March (larger than the expected seasonal price change), and it kept dropping, which doesn't look typical.

The cheese I buy is cheaper than it was last year (although my entire grocery bill is still higher).

Without doing any investigation, my guess is US dairy exports are down, and the domestic excess supply is pushing prices down.

And that type of price decrease is not good for the overall economy.

Mick Foley (yes, the retired professional wrestler) just posted a video where he speaks directly at Trump and tries to explain to him that he cannot win a Nobel Peace Prize while ICE is doing this.

New Mexico's cannabis marketplace opens April 1. Here's what to know ahead of Friday's start date. Marijuana aficionados and entrepreneurs across New Mexico are bracing for the April 1 start of state-regulated retail marijuana.

It has been legal for 3 years (longer for medical).

Here is an article from March 2022 about it:

Weekday protests I've been to are almost all retirees.

Weekend/holiday protests I've been to are more diverse (particularly last No Kings protest), but the over-65 crowed is still over-represented.

Bringing back ads, like many platforms are, will help. But as long as streaming platforms are owned by studios, I think niche shows are going to suffer.

12.10.2025 16:50 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I think the problem is related to the vertical integration of streaming platforms. It has weakened the connection between views and revenue.

Companies focus on shows that increase new subscribers, and that is almost always going to be big budget productions.

12.10.2025 16:50 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

This is the big disappointment of streaming, imo.

Niche, low-budget shows should be flourishing, because they no longer have to compete for airtime with broad-appeal, big-budget shows.

Over the years, I have pointed out that Trump operates just like an elementary school playground bully, who should be treated as such. It seems many people didn’t experience bullies as children, or have forgotten/blocked those memories, but we must understand his shtick to defeat it.

Last big* concert I went to, we tried to hang out in the parking lot, next to our cars, until the line went down, but security didn't like that.

Which I kinda get, but making people get in the endless line doesn't seem much better.

We should probably subsidize some domestic manufacturing, but for national defense reasons, not economic.

Flatware is definitely not manufacturing we need to bring back; if we weren't able to import any for 15 years, resturants would need to adapt but even there I don't think it'd be devastating.

There is a problem where evangelicals realize their world view is wrong, but, instead of actually building a new world view, just reslot all the pieces into the same structure.

In Response to McCall's Pumpkin Patch

It has come to our attention that McCall's Pumpkin Patch is publicly attacking our union for informing our members that co-owner and Torrance County Commissioner Kevin McCall voted to extend the Torrance County Jail's ICE contract without debate. We are posting the message we sent to our members in full here to demonstrate that the message was based on credible news sources.

The Albuquerque Teachers Federation would like to point out that in a recent Facebook post, McCall's Pumpkin Patch mischaracterizes Kevin McCall's vote on the Torrance County Commission. McCall did not vote to "keep the community jail open," he specifically voted to extend the jail's contract with ICE. For more info please see: www.koat.com/article/immigration-ice-migrants-new-mexico/64301345

Our job as educators is to serve all students who attend our schools regardless of their immigration status. This mission is in keeping with the NM State Constitution. The fear of ICE detainment is causing great distress to many in our community and even leading to some families keeping their students home from school.

One of our jobs as an educators' union is to inform our members of news that affects their ability to do their jobs and serve our community. We will continue to do that.

ATF internal union stewards email, sent Friday 9/26/25:

McCall's Prison Patch?

Every Fall, some APS educators plan field trips to McCall's Pumpkin Patch in Moriarty. If you're not familiar with Kevin McCall, the owner of the farm, he is Vice Chair of the Torrance County Commission. As such, he has proven to be an unquestioning supporter (literally) of using the Torrance County Detention Center to house people detained by ICE. The jail has been the scene of various documented human rights violations against detainees, but Mr. McCall and the other commissioners excuse that in the name of economic gain for both the county and private interests. Here's what Source NM reported:

"Torrance County's elected officials unanimously voted to extend the contract that allows U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to incarcerate asylum seekers at the Torrance County Detention Facility in Estancia.

Commissioners Ryan Schwebach, Kevin McCall and Samuel Schropp on Wednesday morning voted in favor of allowing County Manager Janice Barela to sign an amendment extending the contract by four months.

The commissioners held the vote in a matter of about 30 seconds, without any discussion: sourcenm.com/2024/04/25/torrance-county-commission-votes-to-extend-ice-contract/

Spooky stuff. Beware rotten pumpkins.
