Quick Guide A brief summary of accessible best practices for social media content.

Those navigating here from Twitter today. People here are telling you to use alt text. I agree but I just want you to know as you are new or just learning to remember progress over perfection. I depend on alt text great deal of the time and work in accessibility and I still make mistakes

We will temporarily be pausing Bluesky sign-ups while our team continues to resolve the existing performance issues. We’ll keep you updated when invite codes will resume functionality.

We’re excited to welcome more users to our beta soon!

I made sure to grab the two I know need to be here and I may have one more.

I knew this was going to happen the moment he said he was going to buy it:

A hater’s ultimate power play is to concede and purchase an asset just to destroy it — that’s Business Chess For You.

Not surprised at all.

Happy Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), Bluesky.

I know many of you are familiar with alt text for images and why it's use is important. There many other issues that are also just important when it comes to digital accessibility that you probably aren't aware as they aren't as visible 1/

I am currently experiencing seizures, but I wanted to still announce it:

In spite of my health, I’m preparing for the CySA+ (CS0-003) Exam and will be LEARNING OUT LOUD while building up a few projects associated with it.

I’m ready to experiment, teach, and get back to getting my hands dirty!!

Because NEVER in my years of studying IT and Cybersecurity have I EVER seen it abbreviated as such...

& I know I've never seen a Cybersecurity Professional ever do exactly what I asked above.

"CS" = Computer Science

How can you want to put the obligation on students to know so much when they can't even have a naming standard for introducing "standard" terminology that we use in Cybersecurity?

Which Cybersecurity Professional do you know that abbreviates Cybersecurity as "CS"?

If students are taking a certification course, that means they need to show knowledge and expertise in a particular subject -- which means, there will be standards set for students for assessment, passing, and failing.

That means they'll be introduced to these terms --

I am adamant about this because I constantly put myself in the shoes of a NEW PERSON just getting exposed to the industry:

HOW do they know what is the correct version to write if everyone writes it differently?

(ESPECIALLY WHEN STUDYING FOR A CERTIFICATION TEST????)

13.05.2023 14:26 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

"Firewall as a service" vs "Firewall-as-a-Service"

When you're writing a report, what version do you use?????????

CAN you use both?

SHOULD you use both?

SHOULD you interchange the way you write the term???

The problem in question is WHY do some folks use the hyphens and some don't?

AND WHY DO WE NOT HAVE NAMING CONVENTION STANDARDS IN #CYBERSECURITY?

I have always seen these terms with hyphens, but now I'm seeing no hyphens, as well and none of this makes any sense.

I went to Google to see if anyone else spells this term out differently.

Cloudflare states it as "Firewall-as-a-service (FWaaS)"

https://www.cloudflare.com/learning/cloud/what-is-a-cloud-firewall/

We don't write the term as "FireWall" -- but I understand the reasoning for this abbreviation.

I went back to find that article that speak about Firewall as a Service. (Forgive my bad abbreviation, I was half asleep typing this)

Fortinet writes about (FWaaS) below:

Nicole has been listening to me rant about this since last night, but she brought up a GREAT point

“Cybersecurity incident response team” is abbreviated as (CSIRT).

No one writes Cybersecurity as CS.

CS is normally reserved for an abbreviation for COMPUTER SCIENCE

Like… I could understand a little more if this were on someone’s personal blog —

But y’all —

We’re taking about a #Cybersecurity #certification objective breakdown, which makes me think there should be more cohesiveness to the way these terms are presented for the CySA+ exam.

If you provide the abbreviation, why don’t you capitalize the first letter of each term so that folks understand the acronym in full?

👀 See that section for Identity and Access Management?

It should have the (IAM) abbreviation next to it.

You can peep the CS0-003 CySA+ exam objectives below to see what I’m going on and on about:

I’m reaching out to folks in Academia and in other parts of Tech to see what they have to say.

I’m really irritated about “Identity and access management” — as a BOLDED concept for students to focus on

With no abbreviation (IAM) and not even the correct naming convention <<<

QUESTION FOR THE CYBERSECURITY FOLKS:

Why do we have the naming convention of “Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)” but then I see “Firewall as a service (FWaAS) without the hyphens?

I noticed this tonight when I was looking up information about SASE and saw the difference.

Why is it like this?

Advice: be absolutely stingy with who you follow. It is an implicit endorsement which is a strong way to show which like-minded individuals you are actively and publicly paying attention to.
