There was a moment where they acknowledged all four Olympians:
Niederreiter
Morrissey, whose silver they noted
Connor and Hellebuyck, whose gold was mentioned
Sounded like cheers to me, Morrissey the loudest
Actually love the Alex Iafallo spinning stick-lift-and-shoot just there. Clever play fooled Louis Crevier and nearly earned a goal.

Somewhere in the building, there's a kid who is getting to see an NHL game for the first time and I hope they're having the absolute time of their life.
Otherwise, this particular game has been plodding and disorganized and it makes me pine for the Olympics.
Logan Stanley with a clever aerial pass to Mark Scheifele that nearly livened things up around here.
More dynamic hockey games than this have been played
Teuvo, top shelf twining. Had a leap year to himself alone in the slot.
Vilardi's penalty chopped to two minutes now.
New dad Dylan Samberg takes a trip to snipe city at 4-on-4 to make it 1-0 #NHLJets 3:59 into the first period.
Teed up by Mark Scheifele.
Cole Koepke's speed draws a penalty. Of the #NHLJets various pending UFA's, he's one I think they should try to keep.
04.03.2026 01:13 β π 15 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Gustav Nyquist is legitimately shifty in tight spaces, but his straight line speed isn't nearly enough to disrupt a defender's gap. There are a lot of plays he could make if someone else controlled the flow of play for him.

Will Winnipeg sell as aggressively as they "should"?
Or will the #NHLJets cling to the idea of a miracle run?
Here's who I think stays and who goes at the trade deadline this Friday ‡οΈ

I think No. 1 through 4 are objective truths. The parts of Stanley that are not replaceable are size/vibes, but those things don't override results.
I like Stanley and he can be fun to watch, too. I just don't think WPG can pay him what the market can (while forgoing his trade return) as a 3LD.
I don't know that I love Trotz's resume as a GM, despite his track record as a brilliant head coach.

Could and should might be different. It doesn't appear to be a seller's market at the moment, and that's all WPG can do.
Meanwhile, some folks are saying they "should" swing big for quality young scorers like Robert Thomas or Jordan Kyrou.
But players like Thomas and Kyrou have full NTCs.
*for his size. Clearly his tight turns are not tight turns and he gets beat in situations that require quickness/agility.

I think this could be a life-changing contract for Stanley. He's always had the size and mobility* to intrigue people. Now he's scoring (unsustainably) and playing with confidence despite d-zone issues.
-Someone- will pay for that on a scale that dwarfs his ~$5.5 million career earnings to date.
"There isnβt a lot of supply, and there is little demand for what is being made available."
