A snapshot of what our councillors & candidates have been doing across Waverley this last week:
02.03.2026 13:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In the style of Bridgerton's Lady Whistledown Society Papers; Lady Libby Bird Society Papers, West Surrey. Extraordinary people, extraordinary campaign. Dearest gentle reader, West Surrey Liberal Democrats were aflutter with the excitement at the launch of their campaign in this new election season. At a grand ballroom among the tall towers of Woking, candidates from all across West Surrey gathered for the most glittering opening event of the season. A meeting of the minds, deep conversation, and combining of skills and experience to bring about effective strategies for the new Unitary Council. Of course, moments of respite from sessions of profound discussion and talks from inspiring speakers were divided with the consumption of exotic coffee and delightful Danish delicacies. The merriment was once again made even more joyous by the arrival of Sir Ed Davey who imparted great wisdom and optimism upon the wonderful candidates chosen to represent residents in their respective wards. It is no secret that voters in West Surrey hunger for change and they deserve so much more than the current leading administration of Surrey County Council is offering. Agreement amongst many is that a fresh start is required in order to deal with the ruinous roads, litigious attitude towards the parents of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and to protect our cherished green spaces. It is, of course, nothing more than miraculous that the candidates arrived safely at all, given the horrors of our highways and their parlous potholes. This writer predicts the destruction of many more carriage wheels unless the good electors of West Surrey choose change with the Liberal Democrats and put us on the golden road to recovery. Yours truly, Lady Libby Bird
After a long absence, Lady Libby Bird is back!
