16 years ago, I found myself in the back garden of a couple I'd just met, as they showed me their pillow fighting arena. The lesson they taught me about games - especially competitive ones - has stayed with me ever since, but I forgot to mention it in interviews when asked if competition is bad. So:

I'm still thinking about my girlfriend telling me a work story that straight up sounded like an early entry in the computer logs of an "environmental storytelling" body found in a sci-fi action/horror game. I cannot understate the extent to which this has stuck in my brain.

I am routinely reminded that we are very much living in the future that I envisioned as a child, complete with robots and pocket computers, it's just that all of the cool tech inventions I was excited for are either still really early and buggy or completely suck ass thanks to capitalism

I cannot express to you how glad I am that we've advanced as a civilization far enough that games don't kick you back to the main menu when you get a Game Over. Honestly, it's been long enough since I've seen a Game Over screen that I wonder if kids even get what that means.
