Gary (Looking For Animation Writing Work)

I feel like I should just shut up and take the compliment sometimes, but it's really tough.

Also, I just get bad imposter syndrome. I grew up watching Kevin Smith, John Hughes, and Noah Baumbach stuff and I always wanted to make conversations sound like theirs. So there's always a level of comparison that bugs me out.

I get a lot of comments saying my dialog for Failing Upward sounds very natural. I don't hear it as much as other people. Maybe it's because I think the way I talk is already weird and laced with dumb references.

The actors at 4Kids had a LOT of fun given the constrictions of late 90s/early 2000s kids dubbing. It was clear they did care about making the final product entertaining, at the very least.

I'll hold my judgement till next season, but it was absolutely a batshit left turn it took in the last five minutes. That being said, they dropped some clues early on that something would surface.

Also this man has had three concussions.

Loved it. We really don't get earnest dramcoms like this anymore. It's not trying to be prestige (hell there's a few flatout 90s comedy moments in it!), but still there's a strong beauty in the way it's shot and acted.

The old man storyline absolutely broke me.

I swear Jim took some REAL hits in his career.
