I have to show appreciation to Kansas Governor Laura Kelly. Her response letter to my student who wrote to her about the right to vote for young people was not only great in her celebrating the student's civic engagement but gave specific advice on what else the student could do.

In 2016 I was lucky enough to attend a @gliamericanhistory.bsky.social week-long seminar. It changed my approach to teaching and opened a door to many more professional opportunities. I encourage all of my #historyteacher friends to apply- www.gilderlehrman.org/professional...

2 monument visits today - Petroglyphs & Bandelier. Good reminders that not only are we all standing on ancestral Indigenous lands, but those peoples are still among us. We need to do more than honor their past- We need to respect their sovereignty.

What brings me joy, and makes me feel like having students write to a policymaker as a class final is β€œworth it”, is seeing a high school junior running down the hall waving a piece of paper yelling, β€œI got a letter! They wrote me back!” #civicengagement #historyteacher #civiced

HELP! I’ve got a podcast deficiency since @HC_Richardson and @jbf1755 ended their show. As a history teacher who values perspective and patterns, I like the @throughlineNPR and @ConstitutionCtr podcasts. What else do you suggest history teacher nerd friends?
