The only things I really remember about Trump's 2026 campaign promises were that he'd definitely release the Epstein Files and that he'd definitely not start a war with Iran.

If this had been Biden during the debate, Jake Tapper would’ve written 6 books about it.

“We didn’t start this war,” says Pete Hegseth, about the war we definitely started.

Why did we go to war?

Regime change?
Iranian nuclear program?
Imminent threat to American security?
Or
53 pages missing from the Epstein Files?

Four American soldiers dead by a war of this man’s choosing.

And he’s talking about giving himself the Congressional Medal of Honor.

I have no faith in this man or his administration.

The Right seemed a lot angrier about Obama’s tan suit than about Trump’s gold drapes.

What could be different? Hmmmm…

It’s like Trump is Lincoln or FDR.

During wartime, why speak to the nation about deaths when you can talk about drapes.

Why lay out clear strategic war objectives or pay honor to our fallen soldiers when you can…. Brag about your love of gold drapes?

The closing of the Strait of Hormuz can have catastrophic consequences on the global economy.

But I’m sure the Trump “brain trust” absolutely thought that through.

Right? Right?

No, a desire for congressional approval or clear strategic objectives does not mean that “I love the Ayatollah.”

You can hate the Iranian regime AND want a war with a thought-out endgame.

Even if we give Donald Trump the benefit of the doubt and concede he had a plan on Day 1 of the war, it’s Days 2 to infinity that have me terrified.

I’m not a political adviser or a presidential counselor.

But announcing the deaths of 4 fallen U.S. soldiers might not be the ideal time to boast about your new $400 million ballroom.

Donald Trump says this war is about regime change.

Pete Hegseth says this war isn’t about regime change.

If the President & the Secretary of Defense can’t agree on day 3, I wonder how thought-out these strategic goals really are?

Asking questions about war strategy doesn’t mean I support a tyrannical Iranian regime.

It just means I support congressional approval, clear objectives, and a more nuanced understanding of regime change than “the people will rise up.”

And so should you.

No one wants to be at war.

And if we must be, you’d expect your Commander-In-Chief to solemnly praise the sacrifices of his fallen soldiers.

Not brag about his new ballroom drapes.

“Don’t you support the troops” is a question I keep hearing.

I do.

I support them so much that I don’t want thousands of them to die, just to distract Americans from the fact that a politician might’ve raped a 13-year-old.

There was no imminent threat from Iran to America’s national security.

This isn’t me saying it.

It’s the opinion of Donald Trump’s Pentagon.

The Right’s trying the same rhetorical traps regarding Iran they used for Iraq.

“Are you saying you prefer the Ayatollah was still in charge?”

Obviously not. Same for Saddam Hussein.

I just don’t like committing American troops to endless wars without clear objectives or endgames.

I’m not a fan of the current Iranian government.

I’m just an opponent of illegal, unauthorized wars.

The American people don’t want this war.

The American Congress didn’t authorize it.

It’s illegal, unauthorized, and without clear objectives.

Not to mention, Trump promised it would never happen. And U.S. kids will die.

Other than that, how’d you like the play, Mrs. Lincoln?

Don’t tell me Trump will never go through with this.

He’s a crook with 88 criminal charges against him.

He filed 62 lawsuits to overturn the free & fair 2020 election.

And incited a violent insurrection when that didn’t work.

There’s NOTHING he won’t do to keep power.
