I just want to say that I was taking a bike ride last week, and it occurred to me that it had been about as long between the first episode of The Simpsons and The Movie as between the movie and now. Two days later, bam! New movie announced. Yeah. You're welcome.

And, yeah, the concept has also been revived with new performers filling the roles of old characters a few times over the years, including a 1980s Saturday morning cartoon and, indeed, the 1994 movie that most people from our generation are familiar with. So much wacky history huh?

They actually go back even farther than that! While its installments were indeed re-released on TV for generations under the name The Little Rascals, Our Gang was originally a series of theatrical short films from 1922-1944. So even when seen on TV they were already decades old!

To continue my weird need to shame the elderly regarding Our Gang/Little Rascals, I saw a post celebrating that a specific entry turned 100 years old. Someone replied, "I don't think it's 100. I'm 77, and I used to watch them." I think I found out what happened to that kid from Back to the Future.

Don't even think I'm exaggerating here! Just imagine this is a Dragon Ball post filled with angry millennials going, "Where's Vegeta? Where's Gohan? This some kinda prequel?" Yes, I am convinced. Dragon Ball and Our Gang are the same thing. Time is a circle. Arale would have fit right in here.

Oh, geez, did I just think of a video topic, comparing Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z to Our Gang/The Little Rascals? Is that too niche, or is it a gold mine of untapped potential? Hmmmmm...

To translate this for my audience, even boomers have their own version of, "I started watching the show at Raditz." And even there, I end up being the snob who actually watched the original Dragon Ball! They even have the arbitrary name divide! There was no Little Rascals manga! It was all Our Gang!

See, Our Gang ran for two decades and was already making films before Alfalfa was even born. Lotsa kids cycled through. It feels incredibly surreal for me, a young and cute millennial, to resist telling a bunch of old people, "You're too young to understand this. This is before your time!"

Becoming interested in Our Gang (The Little Rascals) means being served up lots of related posts by the Facebook algorithm. And any picture that pre-dates 1932 will inevitably be swarmed by thousands of angry boomers going, "where spanky ? not real little rascals ! no alfalfa ? fake news !"
