it made me legitimately paranoid, it made my heart drop, it made me tear up, and i never tear up. it's musically amazing too, and right up my alley at the same time.

what an incredible album. i don't think i've had such a powerful emotional reaction to a piece of music since i first listened to lift yr. skinny fists like antennas to heaven.

i just listened to the first two songs so i could hear play dead play dead, and yeah, that was really fucking good. i'll listen to the rest of the album soon, i'll tell you what i think when i'm done!

and i love sad and depressive music, GY!BE is my favorite band, i love deathconsciousness, my favorite radiohead song is climbing up the walls. but for some reason, monarch of monsters just feels so much more threatening and soul-crushing. perhaps i've just mythologized it in my head, idk.

i know that musically i'm sure to love it, however it just feels invasive to listen to such a personal and emotional album as one of my first experiences with an artist. also, it just seems like a generally terrifying album without the personal aspect. i mean it has a paragraph of trigger warnings!

listened to fish whisperer, while i can tell it's good, it's not really my kind of music, though i do plan to listen again, reading the lyrics and descriptions this time. i think monarch of monsters will be more my speed musically, however, i am still terrified of it. (cont.)
