Btw what’s going on over there in Frankfurt? Is this what Dino TopmΓΆller’s midlife crisis looks like?

Proper day out in South London on Saturday. Palace - Liverpool @ Selhurst Park -> contributing to a vlog outside a bar in Peckham at some silly hour. Nice. #CRYLIV

So, we might have a title race after all.

And here we have it. Has the set-piece coach changed the role of the goalkeeper in top-level football? πŸ€”

Of course, he does. Grealish does little to no discernible defending and does not seem to get called out for it, despite his very discernible contribution to both Liverpool goals this afternoon.

David Moyes is now the outright holder of the most Premier League games at a stadium without a win – 21 at Anfield.

He previously shared the record with David Moyes at Stamford Bridge.

Up the Reds.

That Emirates crowd is about to find out what pressure is. The loser tomorrow is likely out of the title race. In September. #ARSMCI

A solid start to the day here in South-West London🧀, though not entirely clear how I am going to manage gym later. πŸ₯΅
PS Clubs switching to big goalies, I think we’re onto you.

So, that’s Chiesa, Ngumoha, Szoboszlai, Salah & now Van Dijk with very late winners. At this rate, Alissonβ€˜s turn in November?

That’s a pretty cool stat. Not sure how many of those I saw… but was there for the first one at Watford on his debut. Started off as he meant to go, etc & so on.

Liverpool winners in the league - 83’ or later
24/25 - 3 (including 1 in injury time)
25/26 - 4 (including 2 in injury time)

I think enough people understand why Arsenal played the way they did; however, while some see the approach as perfectly rational, others see yet another example of Arteta’s limitations as a manager.

Would Arsenal folks still be explaining it to themselves years from now? I guess, we’ll know in May.

Oh, nicely done, on this, the 213th anniversary of Borodino w/ Napoleon right about now probably going over his decision not to commit the Guard to smash the Russians.

In his case, though, it was an example of uncharacteristic hesitation rather than fear, so let’s keep his name out of this thread.

β€œA familiar trope”? Funny.

LFC learned that a serious title challenge
- goes to the last day
- involves 90+ pts
- means facing City w/ courage

Anything less &, no matter how much certain folks sit around telling each other that they β€œwere not cowards at Sedan”, history will have little sympathy.

Seems, the world is full of weirdos who think that Arsenal should’ve posed more of a challenge than Palace, Bournemouth & 10-man Newcastle. Oh, well. 🀷

Funny. The 1st references to the City 0-0 I saw online came from Arsenal fans. Funny also that whereas Liverpool learned from City winning 9 in a row in the run-in… Arsenal-adjacent folks seem to be in denial.

& there is a difference between failing to β€œout-attack” and failing to β€œcause problems”.

As it was, Arteta looked on for 70 min as Merino did his best to make it 2v1.5 in MF. Superb stuff.

06.09.2025 13:59 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

It is hard not to see an argument for boldness over dogma on Sunday.

Before k/o, you knew there could be a 3v1.5 advantage in MF, yet Arteta went w/ Merino.

Then you watch 1st half & still his players do their 5-min corners.

He’d be amazed if he ever finds out about the concept of coup d'Ε“il.
