19.02.2026 22:41 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It is possible that I misread the post. I got the sense that the period between the 2-2s @ the Emirates (against Liverpool -> against Villa) was that, with the Villa game being the culmination of Arsenal Arsenaling themselves.
19.02.2026 00:29 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Perhaps, this couldโve changed with Brentford away but, instead, Liverpool effectively clinched the title that day.
19.02.2026 00:23 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Ah! My bad, if I totally misread that. Was there a โLiverpool vs themselvesโ narrative last season? I genuinely never had the sense of that being the case as they were pretty steady & there was no real great expectation of a serious title push.
19.02.2026 00:23 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0It is axiomatic that if you are serious about challenging for the title in the Guardiola era, you need to go at/for 90+ points.
Doesnโt matter if you have the best squad in the world ever or City are unsteady or whatever, anything less and youโre asking for it.
I think the view that last seasonโs narrative was โArsenal vs themselvesโ is representative of the navel-gazing in parts of North London in 2024/25. The baffling refusal to accept that someone else would dare to put a steady competent run together (while City fell apart) was borderline immature.

- I always want to cause chaos. I want us to play in a relentless fashion.
- Letโs not take steps back when you can take steps forward.
- There are 12 games left, but I promise you, we are going to attack every single one of them.
- Fills me with pride watching my team play.

Genuinely wild game management by Arsenal.
- do nothing for 45
- pummel Brentford for 15, score
- go back to doing nothing, invite Brentford on, get the crowd going, concede
- canโt just flick the switch again, have their keeper to thank for a point.
Second again? Why not?
#ARSBRE
An honourable mention to the decision not to concede in injury time this week. ๐ช

This episode is hugely impressive. Essentially, sets the scene for Elem Klimovโs Come and See -> Belarus 1941-1944, one of the worst places on Earth. Plus a superb assessment of the aftermath.

05.02.2026 09:33 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Ortega did so well coming from Bielefeld to play as a back-up to a goalie as idiosyncratic as Ederson w/o causing a significant drop-off in the way City played. Not sure how this would translate to a Dyche team in the Age of Grocks, so curious to see how this plays out.
PS That save from Son. ๐
Taking stock of it all with stats from Bert Kassies ahead of the Champions League & the Europa League draws.
Just look & marvel at how far ahead โour leagueโ(c) is
- the only one not to lose a single club so far
- won 47 league phase games (2nd = 29)
- won 67% of league phase games (2nd = 56%)
