I think Frozen skates by on the power of one sequence but is otherwise a REALLY sloppy movie. Tangled is by the book and doesn't transcend but it's so much more sound in every other way.

There's a lot of ink spilled on how Democrats should win back low-info voters (particularly young men) with rightward shifts when "stop being weak and pathetic" is the better tack. The reason AOC gets respect from low-info voters is that she doesn't let people walk all over her the way Schumer does.

Waltz’s team set up at least 20 Signal group chats for crises across the world It’s a more extensive use of the app than previously reported and sheds new light on how commonly the Trump administration’s national security team relies on Signal.

The thing about watching a JD Vance speech is that everyone knows he’s a little pig man. Everyone knows he exists to squeal for Trumpβ€˜s amusement. No one respects him and he clearly doesn’t respect himself.

You know that Tweet about how if libraries didn't already exist it'd be impossible to convince people to support creating them?

We're gonna see that play out in real time, in so many different ways over the next four years.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Together, Trump and Musk are trying to rewrite the rules of the American system.
They are trying to instantiate an anti-constitutional theory of executive power that would make the president supreme over all other branches of government.
They are doing so in service of a plutocratic agenda of austerity and the upward redistribution of wealth. And the longer Congress stands by, the more this is fixed in place.

Again, if Musk had been elected to some office, this would still be one of the worst abuses of executive power in American history. No one in the executive branch has the legal authority to unilaterally cancel congressional appropriations. No one has the legal authority to turn the Treasury payments system into a means of political retribution. No one has the authority to summarily dismiss civil servants without cause. No one has the authority to take down and scrub government websites of public data, itself paid for by American taxpayers. And no private citizen has the authority to access the sensitive data of American citizens for either information gathering or their own, unknown purposes.
The thing, of course, is that Musk isn't elected. He is a private citizen. He was neither confirmed for a cabinet job nor formally appointed to a high-level position within the administration. He does not even have a presidential commission; he has been designated a "special government employee." Musk says that he is acting on the authority of the president of the United States. "[A] democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is Fascismβ€”ownership of Government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power." - FDR (1938)
