It reminds me a lot of the amount of Fallout collectors I saw buying boxes of collector packs just to sit them on a shelf. Theres nothing wrong with collecting, but I’m really dubious at this point of these sets’ ability to bring in new, lasting players.

I meet people at game stores/conventions pretty regularly and not one person has ever told me they were excited by or enjoyed playing that set, yet we’re told about its good sales figures. Whoever is buying it is clearly not playing it!

Scenario: You get 100 billion dollars if you can open a pack of Magic cards, but you don’t have to look through the cards and if you don’t feel like opening it someone else can do it for you.

Mormons got on my bus the other day and it was truly surreal

Watching Top 4 of the Seattle Regional Championships!!

I understand kids can be shy and these kinds of events can be overwhelming, but shyness is not an excuse for rudeness. Please make sure kids are practicing good habits when competing.

Parents: PLEASE teach your kids good sportsmanship if they are going to play competitive games.

I played a round against a kid who ignored me when I spoke to him, didn’t respond when I said “good game”, and signed the match slip in silence and ran to turn it in after winning.

I played, beat, and brought to game 3 many people who said that they've travel the country competing in VGC events for years. I feel more fired up than ever to keep playing and improving.

Thinking about this again, this tournament, despite being a regional, had over 800 players including multiple previous World Champions, International Champions, Regional winners, and tournament grinders.

For someone that only started playing seriously a month ago, 3-5 is kind of amazing.

After 10 hours of playing, I ended today with a 3-5 record and a placement of 526/822.

I’m a little sad about how some of my games ended up, but overall I think 3 match wins at a giant tournament for a game I’ve realistically only been playing for 2 months isn’t bad 🙂 onto the next one!

I lost in game 3 to a really unlucky critical hit. It’s how the game goes but I’m a bit salty lol. Gonna play out the rest of my games for experience and prize tickets!
