04.03.2026 17:09 — 👍 16 🔁 2 💬 1 📌 0When Tory was campaigning in 2014 he promised a war against the city's obsolete or backwards regs, taking the city's licensing and planning system to task would have been easy and natural! Instead in 2026 the zoning by-law still controls the allowable number of pinball machines in a bar.

This framing is brilliant.
Too often we are told that someone is "too close" or "too involved" to be able to exercise good judgment. But I agree completely that not participating in the defense of this community disqualifies you from participating in its recovery.
I think once people are exposed regularly to Bradford in debates etc he’s gonna stall out. He’s got the PP problem of alienating normies whilst Chow and Tory actually charm them.

Saw Nirvana the Band The Movie on Thursday, which features a lot of Toronto circa 2008, and tomorrow the new Scott Pilgrim game comes out with meticulously drawn pixel art backgrounds from around that time. Toronto lovers are eating good.
