The majority of Israeli Jews would be able to stay under that rule. Ironically, the groups who would be most impacted by that standard would be the Jews with the least "proximity to whiteness" (Mizrahim, Beta Israel, etc.) who mostly came as refugees post-48. The Yishuv was predominantly Ashkenazi.

If your reaction to the genocide in Gaza isn't "ethnic cleansing is never acceptable" but rather "ethnic cleansing is happening to the wrong people; we need to redistribute it to the right people," then the difference between you and the Zionists is that you have less power, not more morality.

That's a correct statement, but not one that addresses what I said. I said that the particular solution you're proposing is both morally and practically garbage, not that the problem isn't in dire, urgent need of solving.

(Also, "Eretz Yisrael doesn't exist" is nonsense--the land is there, and it always will be holy to Jews. The core tenets of Judaism that existed for thousands of years before Zionism came into being don't need to be purged for Zionism to be dismantled. It has never needed Jewish rule to be holy.)

It is, and it can and should be dismantled without ethnic cleansing. There are multiple proposals for how that should look--and I defer to the Palestinians on which model they prefer--but mass displacement and forced statelessness are humanitarian crises, never humanitarian solutions.

I'm also reminded of the "whistleblower" report about abuses at a Missouri gender clinic, the author of which is now just a full-time anti-transgender lobbyist, that fell apart the moment any reporter tried to verify it

DHS did not respond to a request for comment.

OK, so this is going to be tough to hear, but it needs to be said.

Now that Trump has been enjoined from sending *any* NG to Oregon, ICE is going to go gangbusters in Oregon, dialing everything up to 1000%.

Because they need riots. They need someone punching an ICE officer.

DON'T TAKE THE BAIT.

As the people who insist otherwise try to burn the country, it's important to affirm that immigrants, from everywhere, are awesome, and America is better the more immigrants we have. You have to be just empty and vapid and unimaginably small to reject that.

It's a bad idea even if you think Israel is evil and should be sanctioned or chastised until it ends the occupation, because on its own merits October 7th was a catastrophe for Gaza that failed to achieve any goal but random pointless violence and cruelty.

Today's fun work mystery: over the weekend, somebody sent in an inquiry via the online portal we scrapped in development a year ago, which was never to our knowledge taken off the internal testing system and opened to the public. Huh.

The fact the mRNA research field is achieving so much medical progress, so fast--and in so many different areas!--feels like some Star Trek bullshit. It boggles my mind that it's real.

But part of the problem there is that a lot of allistic people are very invested in the idea that what they do is "normal" and universally intuitive, rather than something learned, so they either can't or won't break social rules down this way to teach to people who need to be actively taught.
