A huge group of people are in a giant hole in the middle of a rolling field. There is a large sign with an arrow pointing to the hole that says "HOLE." Suddenly the group's attention turns to a new hole, complete with a giant sign with an arrow pointing to it that says "NEW HOLE." One person points to the new hole and says "hey look! Someone made a new hole!" The mass clamours out of the old hole and makes a bee-line toward the new hole. It's chaos. One person, now situated in the new hole says "this feels like how the old hole used to feel." Another person nods in agreement.

i like to point out how everyone loves German tanks and no one talks about the fact that the Germans were transporting their troops in fucking horse-drawn wagons because the stupidly oversized tanks used all the fuel

Me262 was actually used in combat and had decent performance in a vacuum - but was *terrible* when compared with the cost of building and operating it

Also German jetplanes and ballistic missiles had approximately nil impact on the war - they weren't more "advanced" than the allies, they were just stupid enough to waste money on experimental tech that wasn't practical yet

The Sherman had the highest crew survivability of any widely-used tank in WW2 btw

Its only real deficiency was the lack of firepower

thinking about how when the AI bubble pops a significant portion of the internet might go with it

(lots of stuff seems to have the idea that far future humans would be all one skin color as if you were blending colors together and not, like, a random combination of traits - people's skin color in my setting, Daylight Stars, is basically a normal distribution centered around "brown")

i tend to write a lot of stuff with relationships with people with substantially different skin tones because the visual contrast is neat and i mostly write far-future stuff where skin color is as significant as hair color

since i was made aware of this i have made an effort to make every thing i write where the characters have a difference in skin color so that the darker-skinned person is the sub instead (either that, or they're both switches)

trains are so obviously the most efficient and effective form of transport for people an cargo across land that anyone who thinks they aren't must have (typically reactionary) ideological reasons for not seeing them as so

under my regime the secret police will interview citizens about their level of knowledge of trains to determine their party loyalty

anyone who thinks trains aren't objectively the best form of transportation is politically suspect
