Oak is very good. Burns hot and long. Good for an evening in front of the fire, or overnight.
Beech burns very hot but not as long.

There are some very pretty old wood burning stoves though.

A mixture. Beech is great to get things started and warmed up. Then oak and the other stuff that doesn't burn as hot. I dunno... I can't remember. The man delivers it every year, cut to size. A variety. I just have to move it around and restack it.

Do your door seals need replacing?

I have two excellent woodburners, but you need to feed them good, seasoned wood. Put rubbish in and they dont work well.
(It has taken over 15 years ( the early ones learning the hard way).
Agreed though, we did have an inefficient borner in the early days. It kicked out heat but ate wood.

Beech is good, and burns hot. The bark is great for starting fires. However, it isnt something you want to be burning all evening unless its seriously cold. You're better moving onto oak or some other hardwood, to cool things down a bit.

Sorry to hear that, Sis. I really don't like funerals, yet people keep asking me to say things at them.

I agree that the BEEB should play a vital role in British culture, but we need to get away from the idea that it's truly independent.
It should be, but it clearly isn't.

@LBC can't you find a proper politician to interview, instead of a Dubai based UK tax dodging immigrant?

Point being, if you need to go, go. You dont want it turning septic.

I ended up at the walk in clinic at the hospital. "A splinter?!!" Said the nurse, with a look of utter contempt. "Ok... follow me". Long story short, after she surgically removed something resembling a snooker cue from under my fingernail, she actually apologised for not taking me seriously.
