Our street has not been plowed since the start of snowfall on Saturday. And what would normally a blessing - lower vehicle traffic - has meant that there arent line where the snow has been crushed to asphalt. Just choppy ice all around.

Maybe a galaxy brain take but if the law is future-looking, could a developer/local gov subsidize a relatively higher frequency bus line to encourage dense development? Feels big if so! A new tool to work around NIMBY local gov restrictions that also positively benefits residents....

If you have any good starting point resources/youtube videos, etc would appreciate it. I feel like I get the most hung up on the technical set up pieces (server set up, hosting, git commits, deploying etc.)

I haven't played around with any of the AI coding supports/tools just yet (and my expertise level is decidedly intro at best with Ruby/Rails and non-existent with other seemingly more popular languages). But seeing stuff like this makes me want to devote some time and learn it....

This is really, really cool. Thanks for putting it together. Would be incredible if this sort of dashboard could be automatically generated for any X block stretch in the city and plug into p2a or other advocacy tools to get elected to respond. E.g. Kedzie from Augusta to Palmer in our hood.

Looks like the city needs some new revenue sources. May I recommend...

... which would be SO useful for planners/officials. My guess is it takes 5-6 months of decent weather after completion of a new protected route to shift behavior/add net new trips.

I'd expect you'd see lots and lots of travel along existing safe/protected routes, but some indicators of which connections/infill of safe infrastructure could/should be prioritized.

Also might be able to see how long it takes a new protected route to gain traction with existing riders...

The idea that this data exists immediately makes me want someone (w/ awesome data viz skills!) to create a map w/ "desire lines" for more robust biking infrastructure in Chicago. Something w/ a toggle for a heatmap of all trip paths, then one for concrete protected routes, and non-protected routes.

Under the Northwest Side Preservation Ordinance, developers have to pay steep fees to demolish existing residential to build more dense residential but pay $0 to demolish something like this to replace it with single-family homes. Make it make sense.

100%, the new bump out @ Milwaukee will slow some of the biggest sociopaths down but the road is just waaay too wide. The max width of the service roads at every intersection should be the same as the new width of Troy going south where it intersects at Logan w/ similar raised X walks
