Also, uni's used until very recently to be able to be part of delivering apprenticeships, that's just been stopped.

We used to offer a rail apprenticeship that was very popular with people wanting to step up a bit in their rail career and it seemed to work well for all involved

Yes! That was my youthful internet. And the buffy swears keyboard. All sorts of flash based nonsense, when a)flash was a thing and b) youtube wasn't.

Also chats like this were conducted in random fora, rather than subreddits or microblogging sites.

Indeed, the only trouble I ever had here was when I lived in woeley Castle, an area which has shocked no one by going bug on the flags.

I can't believe none of you have linked to the relevant xkcd yet: xkcd.com/208/

At least *some* people on here get it, all twitter has is wooshing noises.

Have you ever heard of a sparks saying "Yes the last guy did that brilliantly, it's exactly how I'd have done it"?

Nope. It's a feature.

Excuse me, I live in Birmingham to near all the facilities of a city .....that I don't use

You'd struggle to find an academic who was in favour of the current academic publishing model.

The need to knock out a certain number of papers to be promoted does also result in complete drivel getting published, and expecting people to review it for free is equally unpopular

Italy for example has mandatory to carry on you at all times ID cards and has just experienced a very noticeable wave of irregular migration.

Migration is the excuse, it's a weird new-labour fixation.

Firstly, obviously this kind of cruelty is awful.
Secondly, based purely on that picture, why don't more people punch Nigel Farage in the face?

... And the only reason they want to build it is that's what they think they can sell.

Make changes such that there are buyers for smaller homes and no one needs to force them to build anything

It'd be very expensive, even by our already very expensive standards, because you don't get as many people in, but it'd be a cool first class arrangement for those with super generous expense accounts (who probably don't want to even share a compartment)

I turn on my TV and a TV presenter is asking a Govt minister why they are talking about rolling out free childcare when the big issue is asylum hotels. This is objectively insane.

I don't think Badenoch being elected was ever a consideration. I guess the only thing keeping her there is that at this point the job looks so awful no one else thinks they'd gain by taking it.
I assume it'll be someone else who leads them to a solid spanking at the next election, but not willingly

Their Birmingham title does this constantly. It's entirely unusable

Can't fault the clarity of Labour's message on protest. There are BAD protesters who must be punished (Irish musicians, anti-genocide vicars) and there are GOOD protesters whose views deserve respect (masked thugs with petrol bombs trying to start a pogrom)

Well yes, much of this is convention: the land mass is Eurasia, the entire border is imaginary. I know some people use the Urals, but that's mostly convention too

Darkly funny: signs appearing across central London, protesting Starmer’s use of anti-terror laws against peaceful pro-Palestine protesters.

I don't know: As someone who, when very young, had the misfortune to do IT support approximately everyman and his mad aunt Jane uses porn. People will definitely notice.

Whether they consider a good thing is though, I agree, the British people are all for hanging and flogging (possibly for fun)
