Historic Lib Dem voter who is apparently now hard left without changing my views (I now vote Green). Cat lover. Passionate about justice and the rule of law.

Our prisons are at 99% capacity, and they are considering a prison sentence for swearing against a police officer? Sure, let's just release a couple of rapists to make space for him.

Miliband? No way. Benn, definitely. Kinnock, possibly. Philip Gould maybe.

Mothin isn't an MP - which makes it worse, because it means he could not defend himself in the House - but other than that, yes, I agree.

"No new wars" was the one promise Trump kept in 2016-20. It was a big, big deal for many of his supporters. I find it entirely plausible that Trump blatantly starting a brand new war for absolutely no good reason has wrenched them away from supporting him.

If there is, it's another good reason for me not returning to the Lib Dem fold.

Policy wise there is a lot of overlap between the Greens and the Lib Dems. I hope after the next election there will be scope for them to work together, particularly on issues like PR.

No. Just an indication that outside of a handful of traditional strongholds, the Lib Dems simply aren’t connecting with voters. The conditions could not be more favourable for them, and yet it is Reform and the Greens people are turning to.

It’s so great of the Telegraph to help the country be able to envisage Zack as PM.

Well, I am not sure why after everything history has shown us and everything this Government has done you think that is inconceivable, but I am not suggesting Starmer knew it was not from Iran when he took his position on Sunday.

I have a cynical and not entirely serious theory. The party is setting things up for a leadership contest between Mahmood and Streeting where Streeting looks like the reasonable and moderate option.

How many have Labour ticked off? I’d say at least 7.

Should be an easy pick-up for the SNP this one. It would be a nice coda to Caerphilly and G&D, showing each of the Home Nations how to defeat the right.

It’s certainly hard to identify anything they would be doing differently if that were their explicit aim.

And it’s all the more painful for having come so close, and all the gaslighting around how the Sensibles destroyed it. Now we have Zack. I think he is the very last chance for things to get meaningfully better without extreme violence.

05.03.2026 07:54 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Certainly seems to me that both logically and logistically that is the most plausible explanation. I can’t see any reason for either Iran or Hezbollah to launch a small, ineffective drone attack on a British base when there were many far more urgent targets for them to focus on.

05.03.2026 07:51 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Hmm, I wonder if there is any other country directly involved in this war crime, and who has a vested interest in dragging the UK into it, and who is located very close to Cyprus...?

Cyprus hits out at UK after drone attack on British base Nicosia refused to rule out renegotiating use of RAF Akrotiri following anger over the incident

You're not actually stupid enough to believe that, are you? That has not even be put forward as a claim by the Government. What conceivable reason would Hezbollah have for attacking a British base in Cyprus? Meanwhile, Cyprus is rightly angry at us. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/e...

Well, it now turns out even the claim we were entitled to take defensive action against Iran was based on a falsehood. bsky.app/profile/purp...

04.03.2026 23:02 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Well, exactly. I am not aware of any other suggested action by Iran against us, and if this was not from Iran, any move by us to "stop their ability to launch at source" is now an unprovoked offensive act, not a defensive one. Bang goes Starmer's flimsy pretext.

Major update after RAF base attacked by drone – 'It was not Iran' The Ministry of Defence has confirmed the Shahed-type drone which hit the RAF Akrotiri base in Cyprus 'was not launched from Iran'

On the subject of being lied to, what do you think is going on here? This drone in Cyprus was the justification for us taking positive defensive action against Iran, but now the MOD has confirmed it did not come from Iran. Why are we learning about this? www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-n...

Oh, it's HER! That raises whole new questions about her supporting Peggie even after Peggie admitted calling Chinese people "Ch**kies", and saying they didn't mind. Perhaps the Chinese did mind and that's why this has come out...🀭

Well, this news feels like it deserves rather more coverage than it is getting. The drone in Cyprus that led all the Sensibles to claim this justified defensive strikes on Iran... did NOT come from Iran. www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-n...

04.03.2026 22:13 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 6    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 1

Highly unlikely. Lebanon has every reason NOT to be antagonising the UK. On the other hand, certain countries have strong motives, now this has found not to have originated in Iran, to point fingers elsewhere.

There's also the issue that many hard drug users start on cannabis, until their dealer urges them to try something a bit harder and more profitable. If they can get cannabis from the same place as cigarettes, they will NEVER be subject to that pressure, so are unlikely ever to get hooked.

04.03.2026 21:56 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

And that is quite apart from the reduction in acquisitive crime from addicts, the antisocial behaviour that ends up in the courts, and the wars between drug gangs.
