I fully expected the BBC to go along 100% with the narrative that this was all entirely justified, so to hear someone as experienced and eminently respected as Jeremy Bowen debunking it is both surprising and refreshing.

So 100 Iranian families now rightly see us as their mortal enemy who murders their loved ones. And that's just those directly bereaved, never mind everyone else watching this happen.

This is in our interests or Iran's how, exactly?

Can anyone explain to me why Iran is not allowed to have nuclear weapons?

I mean, I get why we would WANT them not to have them. But we have them, so why are they not allowed to?

COUNCIL STATEMENT ON VOTING:

A spokesperson for the Acting Returning Officer said: "Polling station staff are trained to look out for any evidence of undue influence on voters. No such issues have been reported today.

"If Democracy Volunteers were so concerned about alleged issues they could and should have raised them with us during polling hours so that immediate action could be taken. We have operated a central by-election hub which was has been rapidly responding to reported issues during the day, in liaison with the police - who had a presence at every polling station - where necessary.

"It is extremely disappointing that Democracy Volunteers have waited until after polls have closed to make such claims."

This is what Manchester City Council said about the allegations.

So making false criminal allegations about someone to the authorities is not a breach of the Code. Who knew?

Simons faced a formal investigation by the prime minister’s independent adviser on ministerial standards, Sir Laurie Magnus. Magnus concluded that Simons had not breached the ministerial code, but that there was a β€œdistraction and potential reputational damage” in Simons remaining in the government.

Resigns as what? Just as a Minister? The Labour whip? His seat in Parliament?

And we didn’t withdraw those people to keep them out of harm’s way why, precisely?

I think the media trying to destroy our democracy is a story right up there with Israel and the US just committing more war crimes like they always do.

What, the leader who gained Labour their highest number of votes this century?

28.02.2026 17:43 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

A bit difficult to pull that one off when you have been blatantly lying about the polls to try to engineer a Reform win.

Yes, if you know they are going to be bastards, it's easy to cope when they are. But it hurts a lot more when you add in them having conned you. Like you, I wasn't fooled. I was aware of Starmer as DPP and knew what we were getting - though he's still been worse than I expected.

I don’t think the problem is with the substantive issue. It is with malicious actors deliberately misquoting Polanski or removing context with the express intention of causing the sort of concerns you are expressing.

28.02.2026 16:32 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

My take: this was not tactical voting. This was people losing the fear of voting for what they actually want, and not being cowed into voting tactically for Labour. That’s why this is existential for those in the red rosettes.

28.02.2026 16:10 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Gee, who could have foreseen this? Apart from absolutely anyone who isn’t a politician or a β€œjournalist”.

Let’s get this straight. He recognises people want to be given hope, and that Labour have failed to do this, and his prescription is to stick with what they are doing?

28.02.2026 15:55 β€” πŸ‘ 34    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

It’s not a cock-up. It’s a war crime that has already resulted in the deaths of real people. How do you think the families of 50 young girls we have just blown to pieces will feel towards the West? How many more people do you want seeing us, correctly, as their mortal enemies?

28.02.2026 15:34 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I think a few more polling companies will have the Greens well ahead of Labour within the next month.

Since before the election, I have said I thought Starmer would last only until the 2026 May elections. It was obvious that if he did what he said he would, it would be a disaster. But he really has managed to make it even worse than I imagined.

So your position is that you want women to have risky procedures that are not medically necessary. That’s an, err, interesting position for someone claiming to be defending women’s rights.

If stupidity were a number, about the same as the number of atoms in the universe. β€œTwo things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.”

To misquote the PM, no, Iran does not have that right. And that is as much of a perversion of international law as Starmer’s original quote.

What, the anti C section policy that does not exist, that was a straight up lie from right wing media, on an issue where the Green position is to listen to expert evidence?

Kruger’s position has far more in common with the social mores of radical Islam than any other party’s.

What the hell is the British interest in getting involved in a war crime waged by Israel and the fascist in the White House against Iran?
