Court Rules in AAUP v Rubio: Trump Admin Violated First Amendment
The AAUP and partners sued to block the Trump administration from carrying out large-scale arrests, detentions, and deportations of noncitizen students and faculty members for ideological reasons.
Amazing victory. "A federal court today ruled that the Trump administration’s policy of arresting, detaining, and deporting noncitizen students and faculty members for their pro-Palestinian advocacy violates the First Amendment."

The Intersection—an encounter
A drink at a pub, a conversation about psychoanalysis, then an accident — a short story.
My short story, "The Intersection," is now published by the one and only @markaz-review.bsky.social.
The entire issue, OUT OF OUR MINDS, looks fascinating.

Richard Seymour · Baseline Communism: David Graeber’s Innovations

My latest for the LRB is on the insights of David Graeber's 'baseline communism', and 'dialling to the left'. As @aycacu.bsky.social puts it, Graeber was an anthropologist of human possibilities.

Another scandalous case of authoritarian Staatsräson violating basic rights, and copying Trump: “What we’re seeing here is straight out of the far right’s playbook. Political dissent is silenced by targeting the migration status of protesters.”

Thousands protest after Tufts grad student arrested by ICE, transferred out of state
Rumeysa Ozturk, a Tufts PhD student, was transferred to Louisiana despite a court order to keep her in the state.
Everyone who speaks up makes it safer for others to do so. Everyone who stays silent makes it more dangerous for those who do speak up. The time is now folks.
