A crt TV screen photo of a pixel artwork apartment window overlooking a modern city at night. A globular lamp on a tall metal pole casts a warm yellow light, with a chair by the window mostly in a shadow
Turn the lights down low as the city comes alive at night...
Another of the PC-98 game artwork conversions to Mega Drive I've been sharing on and off, this one appropriate for the lateness of the hour.

It reads:
I always wondered about the first part of this song. I just read this today- it's brilliant really.
Stewart Copeland's own words in 1981-12 Musician: "| recorded the demo for that at home. I had a little home studio at the time with wires going everywhere - I think I was running the guitar through the toaster, that sort of thing - and I was playing the piano part while I sang the song, or at least what was supposed to be the lyrics of the song. And just as I finished singing, all the wires in the room acted like a radio and picked up a signal of this opera. It was perfectly in time and perfectly in tune, even the mood and sentiment of the thing were absolutely perfect. So it went straight on tape, exactly in the place that it should have gone. It had to be a message from above that this was the way the song had to go. So we actually used that, my home demo, at the beginning of the studio recording."
The story of the opening part of that song, the radio opera rising in the background, could not be more perfectly 80s.

A color photograph of Barbara Liskov, the pioneering American computer scientist, Turing Award winner, and MIT Institute Professor, standing in front of a large black chalkboard filled with dense handwritten mathematical and computer science notations. She is an older woman with short, curly hair, warm smile, and a friendly, engaging expression as she looks directly at the camera. She wears a light mint-green shirt or sweater with a collar. Behind her, the chalkboard is covered in complex equations, diagrams, symbols (including Greek letters like Ο, arrows, brackets, subscripts, superscripts, terms like "DB", "30sec", "Lop", "D", "T", "eichn", "P", "Joe", "Page", "aps", "uige", and various parentheses, integrals, and code-like fragments), suggesting an active lecture or research discussion on programming languages, data abstraction, or algorithms. The setting appears to be an academic classroom or office at MIT, conveying her enduring role as a mentor and innovator in computer science, particularly for contributions like abstract data types, the Liskov substitution principle, and object-oriented programming foundations. The overall mood is intellectual, approachable, and inspiring.
Computer scientist Barbara Liskov's work forms the foundation of modern software engineering.
She is best known for inventing data abstraction & the Liskov Substitution Principle, concepts that are now fundamental to how almost all modern software is written. #WomenInSTEM #WomensHistoryMonth (1/2)

The At-Home Test That Could Catch Cancer Earlier
Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University are developing ways to catch cancer earlier than ever before. The project showed such promise that it was awarded up to $26.7 million in federal funding from the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H).
CMU researchers are developing ways to catch cancer earlier.
Theyβre building a screening test, which is able to detect more than 30 types of Stage 1 cancer from the comfort of your home.
Learn more about the #research from @cmumeche.bsky.social professors Rebecca Taylor and Burak Ozdoganlar.

I haven't heard any potential Democratic candidate promise to pardon everybody arrested for protesting ICE.
That'd go a long way toward showing me they're opposition and not just controlled.

In a scene from Starfleet Academy, we see some of the cadets as they sit in theater class. In the foreground, we have SAM and Gonzo sitting behind a table. SAM is paying attention to the teacher while Gonzo appears to be riding his stool like a bronco, legs out and gripping the seat with his hands. Behind them, Tarima can be seen looking sulky.
